Beautiful Card Designs Made Easy

Creating the pearl sprays ...

Hi Everybody,

As you will know by now,  if you read my pages regularly,  that I love adding embellishments to my designs.

I am most definitely a More is More kind of card maker and I am proud to admit it.

I know how to make the clean and simple cards .... I just choose not to.

So a short while ago I added some pearl sprays to some of my cards and I had quite a few emails asking me where I got them from.

Well the answer is ... I made them and I have also made a video to show you the simple technique to make your own.

They came about  because I bought some  beads to  make my hatpins  and the  hole in the  bead was too small for the  pin to go through.

Well I couldn't  waste  them as so had to play and see what else I could  come up with

This is one idea  and I will film more  as I go along  and then maybe it  will help you  to use up some of the  smaller beads that you have  sitting there  staring at you and  you don't know  what to do with them.

On  the video I added  4 mm beads in fives to my spray but the ones in the photo are 6 mm beads added in threes.

The size of the  wire is an unknown quantity  as all I asked for in  Hobby Craft was  the type of  wire to make pearls  sprays and this is what she  gave me ...  and stupidly I threw the packet  away.

I know I know ....  idiot  ... but then   I didn't know  that others  would want to  know how  I did them.   I won't do it again ... promise ...  now can I come out of the  naughty corner ???

More tomorrow ...

Hugs xx

  1. Christina, I love the pearl sprays and I have seen them done where a second and third group of pearls are added along the main stem. I have so many pearls and crystals so I'll have to sit down and make myself quite a few of them so that they are ready to go.

  5. Hi Christina,
Stunning card but I love the idea of making your own pearl sprays...they're gorgeous!
Thank you for a great easy to do video too. These would look great too in red as holly berries or white to add to a leaf die to look like mistletoo. Thanks so much for the inspiration Christina.

  11. Good afternoon Christina,
I think you got the same beads as i did by the looks of things and i started using them on some wire to make little necklaces on my stamped ladies or like on those dress model forms that are so popular the now. But looking forward to your video when i get a chance of some peace( when hubby goes to work tomorrow). Thank you once more for your inspiration

  14. Hi Christina,
Floral sprays are usually made with 26 gauge wire and that is probably what she gave you. It bends easily when using just your fingers to do twisting, shaping, etc. Thank you for the video. Can't wait to use it on my cards. :-)

  22. HI christina, thank you for the video on the pearl spreys, I have lots of small beads and pearls left in my jewellery kit which are too small for anything other than spacer beads, but this gives me a a great reason for keeping them now, as I was about to throw them away. Thanks again for this brilliant tip. Sandra.
