Weave Effect ...

Hi Everybody,

This pretty design is using both of the new Weaving dies from Sue Wilson and they give a really unusual effect to your cards

The titles of them are  Weaving Dies Classic  and Weaving Dies Striped   and both are available from Joanna Sheen

They can be used separately or together and the look will be different each time

For this card I have used both together to create the pink and white weaves  and then added a large rose from Spellbinders   Crafty Flower Four

The vine behind the flower is  Foliage Flourish  and the sentiment is  Sentiments Three

The base card is created from Grand Large Labels but this has been retired from Spellbinders website.

How ever you may still be able to find retired dies if you visit other companies that deal with "Close Out"  dies.

Have a browse around  Save On Hobbies  and the price will be reduced too but once they are gone there will not be any more

The turquoise card has used both dies again but I have added in the color just once and it gives another look to the design

The flowers are from  Wild Orchid Crafts  and I have added diamante into each corner from   Want2Scrap

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley  and there are many for all occasions for you to choose from

Memories Card ...

Etsy Shop
Hi Everybody,

Yesterday I added the tutorial on how I made the "Keepsake" box and I am so honored to have had a comment from Marisa Job ...  the talented lady who designed the die that I had used.

Marisa makes the most wonderful cards and I love to visit her blog ...  Designs by Marisa   ... whenever I can.

Pop over there and take a look at the wonderful things she makes.

And she likes my idea of the box so much she is going to make one for her Grand daughter.

So for todays card I have used a really pretty shade of pink silk card and it is so smooth. I have used it to cut the layers and the flourish trim which is just under the ribbon.

On the front of the card I have used a large stamp and Versamark.

I have heat embossed it in a clear sparkly powder and it looks  lovely in real life.

Click the photo to enlarge the card and you can just make the effect out.

The inside is embossed with the Elegant Swirls folder from Crafters Companion

I have used the matching pearl "Bling" from Want2Scrap on the labels and also around the flowers.   The newest pearls from them are the tear drops in the corners and they come in two different sizes and they are lovely.

The ribbon that I have used is from Reasonable Ribbon   and my beautiful flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts ... and they have been sparkled with Glamour Dust ... I really like this card Mmm Mmm !!

Spellbinders Labels Seven

Hi Everybody,

Today I have used  the Grand Rectangles to create my base but I have still added the hinge at the top.

Labels Seven  forms the book part  and both of these dies are available from   Save On  Hobbies  ... and you will find a new look to their website along with the new dies.

Scott the owner of the website is inviting you to add photos of any cards that you have made with dies that you have bought from him

All you need to do is upload them and add a little message to say who you are and what you bought to ...... support@saveonhobbies.com

The background is Tapestry and it is such a pretty pattern., and is one of the extendable dies from Spellbinders.

I have added tiny gemstones to it for extra effect ... and they and the Diamante strip are from Want2Scrap

The paper is a digital download from a Funky Hand CD and the die cut words are from Tattered Lace

This idea would suit a card for a Christening, Confirmation or even a Sympathy card and the words that you add to your book could be for any reason.

Just make sure that the book pages you use are suitable just in case someone tries to read them .... if you know what I mean ... and I am sure that you do !!

Christmas Make ...

Hi Everybody,

Last year I made lots of these for the children in our family and they were so popular that even the adults wanted them for keepsake afterwards.

I made a video of the process and it was very well received.

So I thought I would add this in plenty of time in case you wanted to make some for your family  and add to the boxes what ever you fancy.

Chocolates, sweeties, soaps, jewelry,   Diamonds .... er we ll maybe not !!

The video shows the Advent Calender being made for a child, in fact I made it for Isabella,  but the picture shows a more grown up version that was made for a teenager.

The box die is the Bracket Edged Box and it is very easy to make the whole calender.

But it will take you some time to create 25 boxes and so I am giving you plenty of it to get busy making this lovely Advent Calender.

Turquoise Voile...

Hi Everybody,

Today I have used the turquoise Voile and the sheets are so fine and pretty.

The background I have used behind the voile is Centura Pearl Snow White and it looks lovely.

You can just see the sparkle in the flowers in the voile and placed on top are the flowers from  Wild  Orchid Crafts

The verse is from Clarity Stamp  and it has been heat embossed in silver.  And the pearl around it is matching Bling for Labels 23 from Want2Scrap

The panel along the left has been created with the Edgeabilities and this one is the Classic Triple Scallop

I have cut it three times in alternating colors and the turquoise is Centura Pearl from Crafters Companion

I bought die  from   Save On Hobbies   because the price is so good.

And I know that some of you wanted the Donnas Alpha when you saw me use it on a card a while ago and it was sold out .... well it will be back in this month and is a very versatile alphabet set to have.

Alphabet background ...

Hi Everybody,

Here is a card with the Alphabet background a little more clear.

I did this yesterday ... and another in blue that I filmed as I was making it and it will be on the blog pages later this week.

The Alphabet I used is designed by  Donna Salazar and available from   Save On Hobbies   at a really good price ... and there are many more for you to choose.

It is useful to have an alphabet in your crafting "Stash" to personalise any projects that you are planning to do.

If you look at the inside of the card you will see that the panel has been embossed ....... and so yes I forgot to emboss the front panel.

I think I need a holiday to rejuvenate my memory.

Still the card is pretty and can be for any occasion ... I just happened to make mine into a Baby card and used more letters
The close up shows the pearly flourish from Want2Scrap  which can be cut  to fit your designs.

The flowers, which have been sparkled with Glamour Dust, are from Wild Orchid Crafts  and both are the finishing touch for me.

I will add the blue card later when I add the tutorial.

More tomorrow ...

Alphabets ...

 Hi Every body,

I thought that for todays card I would go back to Spellbinders.

This one is using Alphabets which are excellent if you want  to personalise the card for any recipient who is lucky enough to get one of your beautiful designs.

I have made a short video to demonstrate these lovely sets ... Spellbinders Alphabets

This particular set is called Donnas Alphas and is an excellent all rounder.

It can be used to add any name or occasion to any of your projects.

Inking  through the die before you remove the card makes the letter stand out even more.

This cards has used the more intricate Jewel Alphabet and this one is very ornate.

I have used a silver Pen Touch pen to go around the edges of the letters on both of the cards.

And then I have added them at different heights on the card with foam pads.

Both of these Alphabet sets are available from  Save On Hobbies   and the price is  really good value for money.

The addition of the flowers has made them even prettier and they are from Wild Orchid Crafts .... and they have a 30% off sale going on at the moment.

The "Bling" is as always from Want2Scrap

There is still time to add your name to the list for the June Give Away   so click the link to win one of the three copies on offer.

If you can't wait and want to buy your copy of ....  Farmyard Fellows   then this is the place to go

More tomorrow

Flowerless Card ...

Hi Everybody,

I thought I would take a break from pink and flowers for todays card and so this one in lilac and a very pale green.

But the chance for you to win some beautiful blooms to add to your cards is still there so add your name to the list for some Wild Orchid Flowers

This card is using a white base card and then layered with the Enchanted Labels 28 in lilac.

Then I have added two panels from the Vintage Lace Motifs
and added  a Label 20 cut in pale green.

Along the centre of the label I have added in two of the border strips from the Vintage Lace Accents

This matching Accent and Motif set is available from Save On Hobbies for a really competitive price.  There are other sets available too and they are all gorgeous.

My "Film Crew" and I made two videos yesterday. One was  using Spellbinders - Accents and Motifs

I always like to buy the matching sets and there are some really pretty ones at Save on Hobbies

The next video will be Matting Basics and it will be available as soon as Griff has finished editing it for you.   And we have several more videos in the pipeline for the next few weeks.

The Fancy Bow is one of them and how to make a Hinged card is another .... so watch this space

Mothers Day Card

HI Everybody,

Do you remember the little flower display from Mondays post ??

Well here it is made up into a card for Mothers Day which is on the 10th March here in the UK

I have layered up a turquoise panel cut with the  Romantic Rectangles and white layers with the scalloped and plain oblongs which I have embossed.

Then the largest from the Floral Ovals is layered with the second size and the centre piece was shown  in Small Flower Corsage.

I have wrapped ribbon around these layers before adding them to the white base.... which is Tri Fold Card

I have added a bow with a beaded button centre and some turquoise trim along the middle of the ribbon.

The same trim has been used to accentuate the letters for MUM.

The Alphabet set  is  from the  Save on Hobbies

Alphabet and Numbers are really good basic sets to keep in your crafting "Stash"  so that you can can add any name, age or date  that you wish to any of your cards cards.

A small request please ...

Hi Everybody,

A little while ago I told you about a company that sells "Close Out"  Spellbinders for a really good price.

Well they have now just started a Facebook page which will show you all the new Spellbinders ... as they come in ... so that you will be the first to know of what's on offer.

Scott ( the owner) is going to update the page regularly to keep you all up to date.

He is trying to get  to 1,000  likes in the next few months and I wondered if you would pop over there and see what he has .... click the "Like"  button and make it happen sooner for him.... especially if you have bought dies in the past.

Save On Hobbies   is the website and over the next few days he has some news Spellbinders coming in ... so keep on visiting and then you won't miss them because as they are "Close Outs" once they are gone they are gone.

Keepsake Box Tutorial

Yesterday I told you that Isabellas' mum wanted an Advent Calendar for herself.

But what she really wanted was the small boxes to store items in.

So I thought I would  use another Spellbinders Box die that I have.

The  Petal Top Box  makes a bigger size and by making  my base box  from 14" Centura Pearl  it would hold nine  of the small ones.

The Diamante Swirl is from Want2Scrap

The video is the Keepsake BoxTutorial

To these boxes  I added  Mica Flakes  and the result  was very sparkly and feminine.... and one  I am sure that  will be very much enjoyed.

I used the Alphabet shapes to write out the words
"Keepsake Box"
and added them to the box lid.

All the Spellbinders I have used are from Save On Hobbies  and the price is amazing for these large dies.

The box die will only go through the larger cutting areas and not the smaller Big Shot or Cuttlebug.

I have to say that  I love the  finished box and I  will look forward to giving it to  Kylie for her to keep  all her little treasures in.

Spellbinders Hexagon Pinwheel Box

This pretty little box is ideal for smaller cards or invitations that you may want to send... it's more like an envelope really.

It is very easy to make ...  but you will need a die cutting machine with a larger cutting area as the die is too big to go through the Big Shot that I have.

The die itself is  available from Save On Hobbies at an excellent price.

I have used Centura Pearl  for this one from Crafters Companion  and it has been embossed to add some texture to the card.

It is the Spellbinders Grand Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box  and that title is quite a mouthful ... try saying it fast.

I struggled saying it on the video.
But a  video on this project  is here for you  and it answers  some of the  questions I have had about how to  fold it correctly.

The Diamante is from Want2Scrap

I will also show you how to create the small card that can be placed inside.

And as long as the embellishmetns are kept low it will fit.

On this one I have cut up some Guipure lace for the leaves and added them behind the flowers.

I like how it looks and they are for  "Thank You" cards for  wedding gifts

Scrapbook Album

Being part of the Paper Creators  DT  means I get to use some very pretty images.  And most of the time I make cards with them.

But this time I thought I would try something other than a card ... and for this project I have used a rather large Scrapbook Album.

The image that I have used is the Conductor  and  he has been decoupaged onto the front.

I stored it in   "Picasa" which means I can now resize the image to suit whatever it is I want to do.

Picasa is a  FREE  photo editing software  that allows you to store all your photos, backing papers and digital images.

The pink link will give you a wider explanation and also a link to their website.

You will never lose a picture again and you can edit, recolour or resize them as you wish.

For this album I have used shades of blue and each panel has been stitched and then  I have  layered them onto the front of the album.

Using the  Donnas' Alphabet  from the Spellbinders set I showed you testerday I have added Tylers' name.

This letters set is available from   Save On Hobbies   and will be a  useful addition  to your  cardmaking "Stash"

The little fence is a Memory Box  Die  from
Oyster Stamps  and just seems to add the finishing touch to the front.

The Pearl Flourish is from Want2Scrap and adds a touch of luxury to what would otherwise be a plain album.... but not too much as this is for a boy.

I have added Glamour Dust to the name and wrapped Bakers Twine around the spine.

I am sure that his mum will add all the special little items to the album that she wishes to treasure as he grows.

Pretty Sweet ...

This little girl is from the "Pretty Sweet" CD from  PolkaDoodles  and I love the images on there.

The colour is not very good but it has been photographed under artificial light.

I much prefer them in natural daylight but it was getting late in the day when I did this.

The card has the Braided Ribbon  used along the bottom edge and the background panel has been embossed with the Paisley M-Bossabilities folder.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts   and the Pearly Flourish is from Want2Scrap

Before I go I just want to tell you that there are some new Spellbinders in at Save On Hobbies

These are some of them, at an amazing price, and hopefully we have now overcome the problem with the extra Customs charge.

Pictured here are the Donna Salaza Alphabet,  Creative Book Pages 2 ,  Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box,  and the  Square Petal Top Box

I have been making samples for these today and over the weekend I will be making some Videos to show you what I have been up to.

Black and White

I have kept this card to just two colours and the Black and White always looks so elegant whenever it is used.

This one is created with the Envelope fold and the Parisian Accent border is glued underneath to look like lace.

The flowers are the Bauble Blossoms 1and 2 from Save on Hobbies

These lovely dies are available to you at a really good price and are a good addition to your Spellbinders collection.

I have added in the Black Swrily Pearls from  Want2Scrap

The ribbon has been made into a triple bow because it is thin and I have added a black pearl to the centre of it.  So only a short post for today ... more tomorrow!

Christmas Decoration

This is the  Christmas Decoration  I was working on while it  poured down yesterday.

The shape I used was the  Spellbinder  Octagons and Scalloped Octagons  and they  are  from  Save On Hobbies

There are many shapes that can be used for this project and I  will try some with the Diamonds too.

I have added some of the Want2Scrap "Bling" and some  lovely  feathers that I  had in my "Stash"

The video page is on the website and if you are not fed up with  Christmas stuff yet ... then maybe you would like to view it.

Spellbinders Christmas Decoration   is only a short one so I won't keep you for long.

I have made them in different colours and used some Poinsettia flowers that I took apart and added German Glass Glitter to before putting them back together.
