Beautiful Card Designs Made Easy

Pretty in Blue ...

Hi Everybody,

This lovely Cornflower Blue card is made to the Hinged Card Style  and is one that I have added to my Etsy Shop.

The white background to the card is a new die called Exquisite Labels Eleven and I bought mine from Sunrise  Crafts  and it is beautiful

I have topped it with the plain Labels Eleven and intertwined it with Twisted Metal Tags.

The pearls are from Want2Scrap
The inside has been decorated too and the Diamante buckles are some that I bought from the GNPE and they are from    The Hobby House

The lovely wide striped Grosgrain ribbon was also form the craft show but I cannot for the life of me remember which  stall I got it from.

I love this fresh clean blue and  white combination and it would be suitable for any occasion.

New Video ...

Hi Everybody,

This is  the card I showed you the other day and as promised I have now added the video tutorial for it to the website.

Heirloom Ornament 2010  is very easy  and the finished card is very effective.

You can use up all your bits of left over glitters and fill which ever space of your pattern that you like.

And if you don't have the same Quatrefoil Pattern that I have used then you can substitute it with one that you do have.

But for those  of you that don't have any Spellbinders ... well fear not ...  I am going to show you how to get this look with out them.

Watch this space it's coming soon.

And to ring the changes a little more then all you have to do is turn the whole finished decoration upside down.

It then looks like another bauble on your cards.

The letters are from the Font One Uppercase and Lowercase but the uppercase won't show up

The flowers are as always from Wild Orchid Crafts

The flourish is from Want2Scrap   and completes this very pretty card.

"Blingy" Bits ...

Hi Everybody,

Wondering around Harrogate we on Friday we did the usual of going in and out of shops with nothing particular in mind ... just mooching about.

But this is a little haul that I wanted to share as for me it is such a bargain .. but not as it is. It is the Bracelets at the top of the picture that I wanted to show you and this was picked up in Primark

They are metal  with Diamante and pearls as well as some really pretty cameos on some of the pieces and they cost me £3 each.

But once I took the bracelet apart  I ended up with eight lovely individual pieces that can be added to a bow to really add a touch of the special to a card.

They came in black and silver and cream and gold and they are much prettier in real life than the photo gives them justice.

As I use them I will tell you and then you can judge for yourself whether or not you think they look good.

But I was really pleased with my purchase.

The rest of the goodies in this little haul are some polka dot resin bows some small Diamante hearts that are earrings for pierced ears ...  and I will take the posts off them.

The other items in the lower right corner are some Diamante hair grips.  I will also remove these from the grips and that butterfly will grace a card just perfectly.

So although this lot cost me £12.50 once all the items are taken apart there are 33 individual pieces which works out at 37 pence per item and that is not a bad buy at all.

Craft Show "Goodies"

Hi Everybody,

Home again and this is my haul from the GNPE craft fair on Saturday.

I managed to get everything on my list and some of it was basic stuff like the White 300gsm  Card from Anna Marie Designs

I bought Double sided adhesive sheets and magnetic sheets to store my Spellbinders on.

Some  "Wow" embossing powders from  Stamps by Chloe   as well as some of her stamps.

But tucked in the background there is one of the newest M-Bossabilities called Roman Romance and it is lovely.  I will point it out when I use it on a card. It is very deep and intricate.

The tartan ribbon was a buy I couldn't resist.

All the shiny  "Bling" bits at the front are from The Hobby House   and consist of some buckles and some Diamante circle with pearls in the middle ... all magpie collecting stuff that I love to add to my cards.

So I shall be playing with this new stuff and I will tell you which ones as they are added to a card.

And another ...

Hi Everybody,

This is scheduled post because I am away looking at crafting goodies.  But this is another Christmas card using the Heirloom Ornament die.

I have used a glue pen and Glamour Dust for some of the areas in the Hexagon Pattern and the small Poinsettia is from my "Stash"

This card and the one yesterday are very easy to and both will be shown on the video tutorial to be filmed next week.

The Polka Dot ribbon is also some that I have had for awhile but the beautiful pearly flourish is from Want2Scrap

Red and white are a lovely combination for Christmas cards and not too far away from the traditional color scheme that we think of for this time of year.

The pattern in the background is from the Snowflake embossing folder from Crafters Companion
For the inside I have decorated this with two of the strips from the Accents and placed the ribbon over the top.

The pearl hides the knot on front and inside.

So this is another that will go in my box ready to send at Christmas.

I will be adding some Christmas Cards to my new Etsy Shop ... which although it is early days it  is going very well.

A Christmas Card ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays card uses the Quatrefoil Pattern again to fill the frame.

There is a video tutorial to show you how I made the frames and it doesn't matter which of the Nestabilities you use it is the same method  ...   with Spellbinders

Or you can make it freehand    without Spellbinders.

The background has been embossed with the 8 x 8 Bauble Folder from Crafters Companion    and the small red Roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts

Then all I have done is fill some of the pattern with a glue pen and sprinkled it with Glamour Dust and allowed it to dry.

In each of the cross sections I have added small pearls from Want2Scrap

I will be doing a video on  the making of this card next week as I am gong on my trip to the GNPE Craft show in Harrogate later today.

I have a list prepared of the items that I want and I will show you what I buy  when I am back home.

And not shown in the list below is an Uppercase set of Alphabet too.

Prize Claimed ....

Hi Everybody,

The "Give Away" prize has been claimed and is on its way to New Zealand.

All the winners are notified by InLinkz of their win with the message ... Congratulations blah! blah! .... email me  your address to christina@card-making-magic.com   ... blah!  blah!   so if you know that you have entered a draw to win something then you need to check your in boxes carefully so that you don't miss out.

And can I ask that you add your real name to the list in the next one so that there is no confusion over who has won the prize. So if your name is Mary Smith then add Mary Smith ... and not Mary S  or MS or even change it completely and call your self Jenny.

It seems there are  two people who call them selves Sue B but only one of you will have that email that says you win.  And the original winner Annabella  turns out to be called Debby and has now contacted me.

But Annabella is too late for the Stamp set as I only had one of those so I have offered to send her the same package minus the stamp as a consolation for missing the main prize.  I think I am being very fair on this one.

But the winner Sue B has been in touch and the prize is hers .... sorry to the other Sue B ... not you this time

I hope that helps to clear things a little ready for the next "Give Away" and this is one you won't want to miss.

Draw again ...

Hi Everybody,

The last "Give Away" ended last Saturday and the winner has still not claimed her prize.  I did advise her that she had until Wednesday to contact me  ... or the prize would go to somebody else.

Well it is now Thursday and I still have had no response and so I have put the random selection in play again to let some one else  have the benefit of this really good prize.

Just to remind you of what is on offer .... Large Fancy Sentiment from JustRite Stampers, some beautiful "Bling" from Want2Scrap, a pack of Glamour Dust to sparkle up your projects and six metres of ribbon.

And the new winner is
Sue B
and your prize is ready to be sent to you.

Now the only problem is that I am going away tomorrow to the GNPE craft show in Harrogate.

If you can get back to me Sue with your address before I go then I can pop it in the post on  my way out .... if not then it will be Monday before I can post it. ...

Please don't let this prize stand her waiting go go to a new home .... send me your address as soon as you can ... you won't be disappointed

So Happy ...

Hi Everybody,

I was accused a some time ago of adding too much "Bling" to my cards ... and a lot of people came out to support me as they like the embellishments too.

But sometimes just that little bit extra can make all the difference to the finished card.

Take this card as an example .... I like it and it is far prettier in real life than here on a photo.

It has lace and a mixture of Wild Orchid Crafts  flowers that have been sparkled with Glamour Dust.

I even added in some Diamante around the sentiment from the stamp set  Mix and Match Sentiments from JustRite Stampers

You can get this set cheaper on Amazon and it matches with some of the others in the range as the script is almost identical.

But there was something that was missing for me ....

... and so I added a beautiful border along the left hand side and then I was happy.

Just that small addition to fill the gap on that side completed the look for me and it is available from Want2Scrap
The inside is also decorated and I have used the Music embossing  folder from Crafters Companion  and now I am a happy bunny with the card

Adding the flowers ...

 Hi Everybody,

Making cards for a new arrival is always a very pleasant pastime for me  .... especially little girls.

On these I can add flowers, ribbons and pearls to my hearts content ... and I have never had a baby complain yet about too much "Bling"

So this is the card that I have made and I think it is very pretty as it is ... but for me it is not enough.
So I have added in the ever beautiful flowers and these are from Wild Orchid Crafts  along with some Ivy and they have all been sparkled with Glamour Dust.

The pink pearls are from Want2Scrap and are some from the Bulk Bling that is now on sale.

I have added these to the cross sections in the Tied Together embossing  folder

I have also added in a little Rocking Horse charm that can be detached and added to a charm bracelet as the child gets older.

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley  and it has been heat embossed in silver.

The whole effect is so much prettier for the addition of a few flowers and this has only taken five of them to transform the card.

And don't forget the inside too ... make that just as pretty as the front and you as well as the recipient will be delighted with it.

             Drum Roll Lease !!

I have sold the first card in my brand new Etsy Shop and I am delighted.

So Thank you to Wendy who was my first customer on the 30th September... your order is much appreciated

I am going to add this Baby Card card to the shop also

Another Video ...

Hi Everybody,

As you know I bought the Spellbinders Crisscross  die and I really like this as it very versatile and the pattern can be used for male and female cards.

When I first got it I showed you some cards that had been made just using the die as it was ... and then came the suggestion that ribbon was added.

So as always the best way is to show you how I did it and here is the video.....  Spellbinders Crisscross    it is not a long tutorial ... just long enough for a brew.

You could ring the changes with this idea by changing the color of the card you use and also the ribbon that you thread through the grid.

I have used some beautiful foiled Hunkydory card on mine from Cardcraft Plus  and if you are lucky enough to live near Preston, Lancashire they have a shop that you can visit at the Capitol Centre.

But take your pennies you will be tempted to buy more ... how do I know this ???
