Spellbinders Lonely Hearts Strip Box (Video Tutorial)

Hi Everybody,

The following video is one I was asked to do by a lady who saw me make it on Create and Craft last year and so always happy to oblige here is the tutorial.

I have used the Spellbinders  Lonely Hearts Strip  die to inlay the pattern into the box sides and the video will take you step by step on how I did it.

But you can use this idea with any strip die in your "Stash" that has a separate cutting edge

It is just the right size to add perfume, cookies or a pretty scarf too ... or chocolates ...  well anything is the right size for chocolates !!

For mine I have used scented candles and wrapped them in red tissue paper and I must admit it smells lovely.

They are really cheap from Ikea but you can get them anywhere

The card I have used to make the box is White Hammered 255 gsm from Papermill Direct and it is plenty strong enough for the job.

The Acetate that I lined the box with is from Crafters Companion

Decorate the box any way you wish and be happy to give this small and inexpensive gift to some one you know.

The die is in two parts so that you can create a solid separate layer and  once layered with the two cut together and glued on top  it is perfect for making Book marks to give as another small gift.
Hope you enjoy the video

More tomorrow ...

Hugs xx

  10. Your box is beautiful and very elegant. I really love the Lonely Hearts die and I love making boxes too. When I have a card that has a lot of embellishments on it so it's kind of fat, I will make a thin box and decorate it the lid to match the card inside. It's always a surprise to the recipient and a bit of a change from an envelope box. The video tutorial is very easy to follow. Thank you for sharing it.

  11. Morning, Christina,
I watched the video yesterday and loved it. Once I get the mess that is my craft-room sorted out I'm going to give this a try. Right now though, I have all my stash piled up in boxes all over the place as I took away a shelf unit ready to replace it with a cupboard unit someone was kind enough to give me...then I found out he wasn't as kind as I thought. He told me none of the fixings were there, no worries about that but when I got all the pieces out to put together I found out that I didn't have a complete cupboard! Now I'm having to try and design a unit made from the pine bed frame I took apart when I bought a replacement bed - thank goodness I kept everything thinking it would come in handy for something lol.

  12. Good Morning Christina. I am really pleased at opening my email to see this box and the tutorial. I made the 'Pop-up box' with the lid for my friends anniversary. Both she and her hubby loved it. I lost my instructions for it so I am delighted to see this today. So you can guess what I will be making today for my gifts for Christmas.
Many many thanks Christina, Have a lovely day with your Family.

  18. Christina, I have just sold loads of similar at a Fundraiser, they sold so well. Also have orders for others. I sold them as T-Light Holders, they look beautiful lit up.
The only thing is I do hope the people you give them to with those candles don't use them as T-Light Holders .... they will be calling the Fire Brigade. I sold mine with a Battery Operated Candel in them.

  23. Hi Christina, I love this box, I have made a few of them having seen them on the demo you did on C n C. I have made them into smaller size boxes using my other dies. Thanks for the video you and Griff have done, it serves as a reminder to us who have seen you make it and also a new idea for those who have not seen it. before.
    Regards Liz.

  24. Good morning Christine,
I make and sell lots of Boxes and loved this idea.
Unfortunately my GC does NOT cut in the middle.
Tried it this morning and unfortunately had to give up.
Will definitely use your Template but will have to stick my Die Cut Panels on, or some pretty paper. I just wish someone would design a machine that will cut right across the whole roller.
    Thank you for the Inspiration.
    Have a great day

    2. Hello Christina, not in the least offended
I was so frustrated yesterday when I tried to Die Cut Panels.
      Thank you for the information
Off to see if I can beat this "not cutting" problem.
