Today my beautiful girl Ruby is five years old, and I have no idea where those five years have gone.
She was a nine week old puppy when we bought her home and both Griff and I fell in love with her straight away.
She was so small she could walk underneath the bottom tread of the staircase.
Once she could go out Griff would take her walking twice every day to the park or the beach and they enjoyed each other so much.
She must have been really confused when he died, but since then she has been my saviour.
We go out together every day and she suits my personality perfectly.
We can have more adventures in the woods looking for squirrels, or off to the beach and a paddle in the sea.We can have lots of days out with Dougal who was five on the 4th August.
So here's to the next five years Ruby and we will both be old ladies by then.
More tomorrow ...
Hugs xx

Beautiful dog. Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Ruby! Christina, I know how much comfort Ruby must've given you after you lost Griff. I have cats and felt the same way when my Tom died. Some days I don't know if I would've gotten out of bed if I hadn't known my babies were depending on me. While I have cats, I love dogs too and your Ruby is such a beautiful little sweetheart. Every time you post a picture of her I just want to hug her. I hope she had a wonderful birthday and that you're together much longer than just 5 more years. The remaining cat I had with Tom is now 16 years old. Take care and please give Ruby a hug from her long-distance admirer. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for that inspiring video.

Aww she is such a beautiful dog and a wonderful companion for you Christina ❤
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy birthday, Ruby. My old girl turned 13 in May, which I think is a good age for a mini Schnauzer. I was watching a YouTube video yesterday and fell in love with a puppy on there, it was a golden cocker spaniel and I decided that if I ever get another dog, that would be my first choice :). Bejay in Truro...along with a snoring MistyBlue!
ReplyDeleteHappy 5th Birthday Ruby, I bet she is your sole mate Christina, just as well you got her when you did that she was there for you when you lost your soul mate Griff. Dogs are just so amazing at times like that, they certainly do understand the predicament and fill that void. Also certainly great to have a dog, the discipline in having to take her out during the day, giving you that time to, to integrate with the outside world and not sitting indoors, just wanting to be alone. I hope you both have a fun day together today....luv Ursula xx
