Hi Everybody,
So let me tell you a story...
On New Years Evening Vickie and I decided that we would spend our evening together at her house with the dogs Ruby and Dougal joining us.
We wanted to have an Indian take away as something different and tasty.
I got to her house at 5.30 and we ordered our meal on line at 6.15 pm
We were both hungry and so we were looking forward to the Indian food.
We waited .... and we waited ... and we waited and 8.45 pm it still hadn't arrived.
We couldn't wait any longer and Vickie made us a turkey and cranberry sandwich instead.
At 9 o-clock there was a knock on the door, and we thought at long last the meal was here, but by this time we were eating our sandwich whilst watching the little film called "Room on the Broom".
I went to the door to tell the man to take it back.
But there was no Indian restaurant man stood there .... just THREE big policemen.
This of course made us think something was wrong with a family member.
The leading police man said to me
"We have had an email at the station to tell us that you are having a party" well I laughed and told him he had that wrong and Vickie came to see what was going on.
She also denied it and invited him in to look for himself..
I asked "Do you have any ID because although you are dressed as a police man it doesn't mean you are one " and he showed me his identity badge. Two of them came inside.
Parked on the other side of the street was police riot van with probably about ten police men in it.
We couldn't believe it and he asked if we had any idea who had emailed them " Have you had a dispute with a neighbour?"
They had a look outside and then we all laughed at this silly situation.
Ruby and Dougal of course where enjoying the company and the fuss.
We told them we thought they were the delivery man with our Indian meal and the second policeman asked us where we had ordered it from ... he said his wife had ordered a take away from the same place at 4pm and they still hadn't got theirs either.
After they had gone we had a laugh about it, but imagine somebody had nothing better to do on NYE than email the police. telling a lie and wasting precious police time for nothing.
And at 10 pm the Indian delivery man rolled up with our take away and we told him in no uncertain terms what to do with it ... politely of course !!
And that was my New Years Eve
More tomorrow ...
Hugs xx
It's comical the way you describe the situation and something to remember for awhile. I agree that to lie to the police and wasting their time was wrong. But the dogs had a good time. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what an strange end to a strange year. Maybe you should have invited all the police men in and had a party after all - they couldn't arrest you for it if they were there!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Christina. Ohhhh Christina ... what a lovely little story. You have certainly put a smile on my face ... I have just read it out to my hubby ... who also thought the same as you ... That ... had the person who sent the e mail nothing better to do than waste precious time.
ReplyDeleteBut he also had to smile when you told the delivery man to "" Go Away "" . I just loved the story. Have a very Happy New Year Christina and Ruby. I look forward to all your new projects ... and wish you good health and happiness for 2021. Thank you Christina. Sending hugs and best wishes to everyone. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.
PLEASE STAY SAFE EVERYONE, EVEN MORE SO NOW. 🙏🙏🙏
My goodness that's a wonderful tale to end what has been a horrid year. Good job you can see the funny side but as you say what a waste of Police resources. Shame about your takeaway meal though.
ReplyDeleteHonestly Christina, you sometimes cannot believe what goes on, why on earth at such a terrible time would someone do this, we all know how our key workers are under so much pressure and then pull a hoax call. Beggars belief !!!!! I too would have turned the delivery man away, hope you got your money back, I have had the same experience, we ordered 5.30 and it turned up at 11.00pm, we were just going to bed after having rung them several times, very apologetic, but it was not their fault they had a courier company (deliveroo, uber, etc) so could not help us.....hence, not something we will ever do again. Anyway at the end of the day I wish you a wonderful New Year, pray things will soon turnaround for us and life will get back to 'normal'....Love and God Bless.....Ursula xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh how awful it must of been a scary time for you both ...glad you and the police could 😂 about it afterwards still working though! as for your takeaway what takes them so long glad you told them what to do ...in a polite way of course enjoy your weekend stay safe xx
ReplyDeleteHello Christina,
ReplyDeleteIt beggars belief that someone would do this and I hope they can trace the source of the email. It's good that you can tell the story as a funny but for all anyone knew you or Vickie could have a heart condition and there may have been serious consequences.
Glad you enjoyed your sandwich!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely an OMG situation, how awful, thankfully with a laugh ending. BUT, I agree about wasting Police time. I hope they have something they can do to the sender of the email, for what they did.

Hi Christina
ReplyDeleteWell that's certainly an exciting way for you to end your year. How some people's minds work is beyond me- what do they get out of it, telling the police utter lies and wasting police time. At least you could have a laugh about it. I bet the delivery driver was taken aback when you politely told him where to go. At least Ruby and Dougal enjoyed the 'entertainment'. In the end I bet you enjoyed your sandwich much better than the takeaway. Take care and stay safe
Hugs and best wishes
