Over the weekend I have been playing with my Gelli Plate. I have had this for years and have used it very very little.
So as I was tidying up in the craft room I thought I would leave it out to use once I had finished.
I used Distress Oxide Inks on my plate and stencils and came up with all these different patterns.
But you can use other inks or even Acrylic Paints on them too and I am quite excited to try some metallic paint from Arteza on my Gelli Plate
On some I used clear or white embossing powder and heated it up to give me another design for backings on my cards.
I added the background to an embossing folder panel and I also embossed the heart in another folder too.
The heart and the banner are from the Small Heart Box Set and the sentiment is from the matching stamp set.
I bought my Gelli Plate from Amazon and as I said I have had it a long time.
Some of these Gelli Plates have gelatine in them so if that is not for you then try the ones from the John Next Door range as they are made from Polymer, and a lot less expensive.
John Lockwood does a fabulous range of plates. brayers and stencils in all sizes and shapes at very affordable prices so well worth a look before you decide to buy.
He also has some great tutorials on YouTube on how to get the best from them too.
More tomorrow ...
Hugs xx
I bought a gelli plate only last week Christina, so these tips will come in very useful. Karen Holmes

Lots of fun can be had using a gelli plate and a good selection of backgrounds to use afterwards.
ReplyDeletethis is a fun activity. As I couldn't find one here, I decided to make my own. It works fairly easily the maybe not as good as the real thing but I get the results that I want and make lots of my backgrounds that way. Also use some of them to die cut flowers and leaves etc. Lyn xxx
ReplyDeleteNot something I have done to much of, but just lately I too have dug mine out and been playing with it, will give the stencil idea a go, I have been spritzing water on mine and also brusho's diluted with water and splashed on....just love the different effects, never two the same....thanks Christina, the card is pretty....luv Ursula xx

Good Mornings Christina. Lovely samples Christina. But ... please forgive me if I appear to be a bit thick ... What is a Gelli plate. Never heard of this and never seen them. So please... What do they do. Thankyou Christina. Sending hugs and best wishes to everyone

Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds.
I have been trying to use the embossing folders with the distress inks, but mine don’t look very good I will have to keep trying, that card is lovely Christina xxx love Anne Owens xx
ReplyDeleteTry rolling the ink onto your folder Anne with a brayer. They are not expensive and it will give you better coverage Cxx

I will try and do more videos with John's media plates but he has some videos on YouTube which could help you Cxx
DeleteHi Christina have been thinking about buying some gel plates for a while and like the idea of John next doors so I looked on craftstash and it only described one of the plates as gel should I assume that they are all gel sorry to be a bit unsure and bother you regards Gaynor Elder
ReplyDeleteJohn calls his plates Media Plates as they are Polymer and do not have any gelatine in them Cxx
DeleteAmazing card and wonderful backgrounds.
