Beautiful Card Designs Made Easy

Use What You Have

Circle Shaped card
 Hi Everybody,

Resisting the urge to buy more dies is hard work but stop and ask yourself just how many oval, square or circle dies do you need.
Or even how many butterflies, flowers, leaves or hearts do you really need.

I have lots of any one of those shapes and I struggle to use them because I have too much choice.

I have not bought them all as I was on various design teams and so the dies where sent to me by the companies.
And then of course I designed my own brand and that gave me a lot more to use.

But having so many stops me from being creative because I am spoilt for choice,  and  that is why I give so many items away, in the hope that they will benefit some body else as they have me.

I have given away flowers, dies, embossing folders, stamps and "Bling" and I hope they have been enjoyed by those who have received them

Rocker Card
In this video I am using one set of old dies to make six cards that look different and are in different shapes too.

I have not bought anything new in the process.

The dies are old, the flowers are old, the glitter is old and I have even used shapes that are lying on my desk top left over from other projects.

The styles have been around for a long time so nothing new there either but each one looks different from the other.

5" Gatefold Card

If  you have been with me for sometime then you will recognise the circle dies I have used and the butterfly and leaf dies too.

And the Mulberry flowers are those that I have had for years. They were gifted to me by Wild Orchid Crafts many years ago.

I  know it is very tempting when you see someone advertising a new product.

I sincerely hope you will try my "No Buy" approach to crafting and stop buying those items that you really don't need, and start using what you already have in your craft room.

Try new colour schemes and  some of the older styles and you will be surprised at what you come up with and enjoy.

Bye for now ...

Hugs xx

  1. Spot on Christina. I find myself looking through my “stuff” and by the time I find something, I have run out of time. We’re all guilty of having too much “stuff” but it doesn’t stop us looking at new “stuff”. Someone once told me that the day you stop shopping is the day they put the lid down!!! On that cheery note I’ll bid you bye for now. Janet Boyne. PS love all the cards.

  3. I do try Christina, but still go back to the old favourites. I like to collect rubber stamps so many still on their blocks, I tried rock a blocks and just couldn’t get on with them and I haven’t got a stamping platform either!

  6. Hello there Christina, today’s post contains words of wisdom for us all! I’m guilty of buying stash that I want but don’t really need ~ I’m going to try really hard to follow your example.
Today’s cards offer lots of inspiration, thank you so much.

  7. Those are so beautiful. The flowers although “old” are the addition that I just love the most.
Those are the designs that made me fall in love with your work. They are still my favourite.
You give us 6 wonderful design in the video.
I remember your oval cards as well. You make everything so pleasant to look at.
Thank you for sharing your talent!

  9. Beautiful cards!
I am trying to only buy things that are very different from what I already have on hand, and use more of those designs I have. I needed some heart shaped die cuts and came across a set of nesting heart dies in my stash that are really pretty and have hardly been used previously! I was happy to use them!

  11. Good Evening Christina.Ohhh my days . What a gorgeous set of cards. . I have at least three of your gorgeous sets .one is an Oval box set and lots of other dies are included in it. I have made loads of gift boxes with these and I love them. I love all my card making magic dies . Along with other dies I have been lucky enough to win and the generous extras that have found their way into my package. So I thank you for all you do Christina.
Sending hugs 🤗 and best wishes to everyone. Please stay safe and well 🙏

  14. Super cards Christina, and I must agree with you!
I am sure we are all guilty of having too much and then
we go buy more, which doesn't make the creative juices
    flow any better! Sharon Brand

  15. It is true that too many similar dies or stamps hinder and slow down our creative production. Great to use old dies to create something different with clever use of add-on embellishments. Beautiful cards!

  16. I think the majority of us have far too much, I know I have loads that have never been touched. We do appreciate that you do your freebies, I know I have had goodies from you, for which I thank you. I now do the same and give it away, just too much to use and we still have firm favourites....love from Ursula xx
