Tuesday Tutorial - Heirloom Oval

Hi Everybody,

Todays tutorial is using the Heirloom Oval from my all time favorite Victorian Collection. This is the most beautiful set of dies and I love using these often on my designs.  This particular set comes with an outer oval shape that can be used to cut the base and this is the foundation for my card

Spellbinders Supplies:

From white card I have created my base using die  #4

Take one piece fold over the top by about 1" and glue together

(Please remember that die #1 is always the smallest in any set)
To create the frame use #4 and #2 and cut two ovals one from white and the other from your chosen color

My card is a 255gsm and because these dies are not intricate I was able to cut both pieces together

You may have to do them one at a time if your card is thicker

Then with die #3 I lined it up onto my colored card and cut the pattern into the card

Once this is done I glued these two pieces together to create a colored frame that is now backed with white

I stamped and embossed my sentiment onto a piece of card that was larger then the aperture in my frame

Adding foam pads to the back of the frame will raise it up from the sentiment which makes the card more interesting
Add the frame in place carefully over the sentiment and  trim around the edge to remove the surplus card

Angle the scissors just under the edge and cut around ... that way the sentiment will fit under the frame with no card showing through.

I placed my sentiment on the  finished card off centre and added  flowers from  Wild Orchid Crafts  around one side.

I also added foam tape to the back of this panel before adding it to the base

From Les Papillions Two I cut the solid layer in peach and the lacy layer in white and glued the two together at the body line.

Bending the wings up a little gives some dimension and I glued it to the frame work just along the body part

I used La Creme Pearls from  Want2Scrap to highlight the flowers and along the butterflies body line

Forever ....

Hi Everybody,

I really like this card and it is a 6x8" created in silver and white

The background is another one that is embossed only with Grate Effect

I covered the technique in a video tutorial  last month

You will find that one and several more in the Tuesday Tutorials in the side bar to your right

The beautiful flower corsage is a mixture of Gypsophilia, Cherry Blossoms and Roses

But the large grey one is from a bracelet that I bought in Primark and cut up.

The diamante is from Want2Scrap and I have added it to some ribbon.  I have used tear drop diamante around the flowers for added luxury.

The    Forever Sentiment   is from the Celebrations Collection by Spellbinders and is one of three words.  I have cut the word five times from silver card and glued them all together.

It gives a raised and thick effect to any words and is a really pretty way to add them ... try it for your self and tell me what you think

The little Dove is from Wild Orchid Crafts  and is a really simple but effective addition

Special Card

Hi Everybody,

This is a special card I was asked to make and it is going all the way to a convent in Rome

I spent a lot of time thinking about this and planning my design around The Lords Prayer

I had several things that I was asked to incorporate but I didn't want it looking too fussy

I am very happy with the result and I hope that the lady it is intended for is happy with it too.

I have used Cream and white for the card and box and added in beautiful flowers.  The flowers, lace and the doves are  all from   Wild Orchid Crafts

The  Cross  is from a set of five by Spellbinders and I have cut my chosen one  five times and glued the layers together to make it stand proud from the card

The verse is The Lords Prayer and I have  printed it off my computer then cut it out with   Labels Eight

It has then been added with foam tape to   Decorative Labels Eight   and surrounded with the flowers

The box is made to match and I have used Acetate to produce the window.  The card inside is covered with tissue paper to keep it clean

can you email me please

with your postal address and the card will be on it's way to you

A Little Story ...

Made For Me
This card is not on offer as a freebie because it is one that was  Made For Me by a lady called Margaret.

I met Margaret at the GNPE craft show in Harrogate

Margaret told me that the previous year she had walked all around looking at the stall holders because she knew I was there and she thought I would have a stall.

Eventually she realised that I didn't and so this year she wandered around looking at the visitors and was delighted when she found me.  It was a lovely moment and I was so happy to meet her and several other ladies who recognised me

Margaret made the card and put a lovely note inside it to thank me for the things she has learned from the blog and my website.  She also told me that after she had spotted me she went round again and this time she bought things she needed

Can I just say that it is my pleasure to share and you are all so very welcome ... you ALL simply make my day.

And one last note I will be on Create and Craft next Saturday at 4 pm and Sunday at 12 noon so I hope you will come and join me then
