Stencilled Wall

Hi Everybody

For this little card I used a wall stencil and blended in Distress Oxides over the brickwork in three  different shades.

I used Gathered Twigs, Forest Moss and Frayed Burlap to give the shaded look to my wall.

The flower is cut from white card several times and stacked together for strength, and this is an old die that I have had for years.

My apologies if the dies I am using are no longer available but this is part of the challenge to myself to use older stock of anything that I already have rather than buying new stuff.

And that includes things like card, paper packs, dies, stamps and many other things that I have bought over time and often never used, or used very little

And that is because I see some new die, stamp technique and I think " OOOOH got to try that " and purchase everything shown to make that card.

Then I make it once and never again ... that makes what I have bought so expensive just to be put on one side and never used again.

I have heard this described as the FOMO syndrome ....  and if you don't know what that is it is the  Fear Of  Missing Out ....

I also suffer from the Full Set Syndrome and that makes me utterly pathetic and I need to stop.

So older products will be introduced more into my card making and maybe you have them too.

More tomorrow ...

Oldie but goodie ...

Hi Everybody,

This was a technique that I shared way back in 2016  when I was using Spellbinders and it was how to create a stencil from any dies that you have. I will be updating this technique using my own brand of dies coming soon.

I cannot find the photo of the finished card to show you so instead I am adding the whole video as a refresher or should you be new to this idea. It is a good way to stretch out your dies and get as much from them as you possibly can

It is an easy to do technique and the hardest part is waiting for the embossing paste to dry.
You can colour your paste to whatever colour of inks that you have and that way it will match the colour scheme of the design you are making.

I hope you enjoy this old video and will also watch the new one when I have added it to the blog

Perfect Rose Stencil

Hi Everybody,

Today I have brought out an older stencil to use as my background for this card. I have still used one of the Layered Florals and I have teamed it again with the Rose Flourish leaves.

The card is an A6 size and I have used blending brushes and Distress Inks to colour the stencil onto a separate panel and then added it to my card base.

The flowers and leaves have been added with with foam tape to give some height and the little balk hearts have been hand drawn with a fine liner pen.

A quick and easy way to produce a card with a little character and you can add any sentiment that you need to this card.

I will definitely be making more use of the Layered Florals on my designs in the future.

And this is another using the same items but also the Simply Dots embossing folder as a Letterpress effect.

The large "Friend" is from one of the Altenew kits that I have and again I have used the black fine liner pen to outline the word.
