Desk top finds ...

Hi Everybody,

So this is another card using up all the left over bits that are lying about on my desktop.

It is amazing what can be created with the bits you can find from a previous crafting session. So keep them all in one box and have a rummage when you next need something.

The background to this card is one I had left over from making my own Distress Oxide papers and using a stencil.

The smaller panel is  cut in white and added to a really old Spellbinders die and that has also been added to an inked piece of paper hat was left over.

The leaves are from my favourite die set,  the Rose Flourish, along with smaller leaf dies tucked into the mix, and they have been cut in white and gold.

The flowers are more odd bits and they have been layered together and added to the card with small peach coloured resin centres.

The sentiment is also in gold on a parchment shadow and that is an old Card Making Magic die set.

I have used the antique type of gold card for this rather than the bright gold mirror card as it seemed to fit in better with the overall look.

Desk Top Finds

 Hi Everybody,

So the background to this card is what was left over from the Washi Tape Circle that I featured yesterday and I couldn't waste it.

I have added a parchment pocket that has been embossed in a folder,

I filled it with sequins to create a shaker card and then added the other bits and pieces that I found on my desk to decorate the front.

The bird is from a Tim Holtz set that I have had for years and he has been sitting in a cellophane bag just waiting patiently to be used.

I am happy to put him to good use and it makes a change from all the highly decorated ones I have been doing lately.

It is good to change your style every so often as it stops you getting bored with the same old things.
So although it is very different from my style I hope you think he is cute all the same.

Desktop Finds

 Hi Everybody,

Today I am being very lazy and I have searched my desktop for things I can find to make a card and this is what I have come up with.

The base card was already cut with the largest die from the Nested Circles Fancy Frames Collection and that has been cut into the card front.

I have backed it with a piece of paper that was created while I was playing with some water colours.

The top two layers are cut in pink card from the smaller circle dies in the set and added with foam pads underneath them.

The butterflies are all from the glued paper napkins and then I have cut the shapes out and bent the wings up a little.
You can pick up fancy napkins just about anywhere and they are not expensive

Each has been partly glued to the base to allow the wings to stand proud and the bodyline of each has diamanté along the centre.

The sentiment was made from gilding flakes onto a small piece of black card and added to the base with foam pads.

So instead of using flowers to decorate my card I have used the butterflies instead and they look really pretty as they stand up on the card base.

Desk Top Finds

Hi Everybody,

Todays cards have been created in the same way, using the same products for each one. From the back ground to the finish and all could be found on my desk top from previous projects.

The backgrounds are from embossing folders, some  of them are from Altenew, that I have added ink to and then run through the machine

I have trimmed the panel, to fit onto a matching mat, and then wrapped it with lace and ribbon before adding to the top folded, white base card.

Each one has a different sentiment and die cut topper on the front.

They are all 6x6 and I created eight in total from the bits and pieces I had lying around.

They are all different colours too.

These flowers have been glittered before adding to the card and then I have added pearl in strategic pace on them, and the butterflies.

Its surprising what can be achieved from left over die cuts that can be found on ones desk top.

For this one I have used lots of left over flowers that are in plain white.

But once they are layered up and a pearl centre added they can look so pretty.

The lace is the same on each card but the ribbon is different.

It was most definitely playtime and I spent a pleasant hour or two creating these cards.  Not a lot of work was involved in creating these as most of the stuff was there  all ready to use.

Just a bit of glue and some foam pads are all it took.

On this card I used a little die cut house that was created from a magazine freebie I got a long time ago.

But it just seemed to fit with this New Home card, and I am sure that some one moving into their own home would really appreciate this card.

I also had some Card Stands left over too and so they were added to the matching card.

I added them with an envelope and placed them inside a cellophane bag, and they are now in my Charity Shop box ready to go the the shop.

 Hi Everybody,

I am sure that there are many of you out there that have the same faults as me and the biggest one is not using up my left over pieces. I cut up some paper to use with a die cut and then put the rest of it on one side. And then when I need something else I get another piece of card/paper instead of using the piece that was left earlier. I also have lots of left over die cuts that I didn't use at the time I cut them.

So I set my self the challenge of using up some of the bits that are sitting around my desk or in boxes just waiting to be used.

For this card I have  used some paper and die cuts and some backing paper that I created by smooshing water colours in red and gold onto my card

This one is a 6" square twisted easel card and I added some mulberry flowers to the front and bottom of the easel.

I also found some gold twine that I wrapped several times around my hand and then glued it in place around the flower

I added it to both cards and it goes with the gold in the red card backing paper I made and then die cut.

I have also added in some pearls as extra decoration to the cards

I have listed some of the dies and items that I have used but most of the things on these cards have been sat on my desk for a few weeks, and had to be used up.

But even though I have all these pieces and ends of paper I do not waste anything as m step daughter teaches at a special needs school and she takes all my bit box for them to use in their projects.

Waste Not, Want Not
