Die Cut Hessian Flowers

 Hi Everybody,

These two flowers are from the stiffened hessian created in the video and then die cut and coloured to add to my cards, and I think they look really pretty..

These flowers are not too deep on the card and I have turned both into birthday cards.

The one to the right has been added to some stripey card with a white oval added to the front and the flowers and leaves are along the left side. The size is 5x7

The ribbon and bow are wrapped around the layer with a diamante centre to cover the knot and then I coloured some clear gemstones to match the colour scheme and dotted them around the base
The card to the left is using the same type of die cut flower but this is an A6 size and I have stencilled the background with Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord

The vertical sentiment has been stamped along the right side and both flowers have a diamante centre added to them.

I have ben adding two videos each week  using the hessian as there is so much that can be done with the fabric and these are just some more ideas on how to use the flowers that I have made in the video.

Bye for now ...

Another Hessian Flower

 Hi Everybody,

Todays card is made from one of  hessian flowers that I created in the video and this is the one made using the template that I showed you how to create.

.I have used the stiffened fabric as it  is easier to manipulate and it die cuts so much easier and you can use any dies that you have .

This one has been coloured with Distress Oxides but you could try this with any colouring medium that you have to make your flowers fit in with your scheme.

I hope I have managed to convey to you just what Hessian is and it is so cheap.

I bought a 2 metre roll for £2 from Hobbycraft and I have had it for a long, long time. The ribbon pieces, in different widths, I got from Amazon again a log time ago.

It is a material you can have some fun with and one roll will make you lots of flowers.

Making Flowers with Hessian / Burlap

 Hi Everybody,

This card is the one made in the video on using a Hessian  sheet for flowers, and it is very pretty in the hand.

Hessian is a thicker material that is not often used in card making ... but I wanted to show you some variations that are out of the norm.

The best way to explain Hessian to you if you are not familiar with it is to think of sacks that can hold potatoes or grain.

They are often made from Hessian as it is a very strong, pliable material that can be manipulated in various ways., and it is relatively cheap to buy.  It is also known as Burlap especially in the USA.

I have added glue to my sheets to make it stiffer and easier to die cut.

You will need a strong glue and I prefer hot glue, but be very careful with it if you use hot glue too as it gets very, very hot and will give you a nasty burn.

Ask me how I know ????????

It comes in other colours than the ones I have shown you but you can colour it yourself.

I have coloured the petals and the leaves with Distress Oxides and a small brush and because they where stiff they where easier to bend into shape.

I did more in the video with dies and if you don't have dies then I show you how to make a little template that you can use to add to the Hessian and cut around.

But if you do have dies then just use any that you already have and the same for the leaves. .

Making Flowers with Hessian Sheets

Maybe you have tried this material before and not quite taken to it but it is easier to work with once it is stiffened up with the glue, and mine is just a cheap 5 litre bottle from the Range that will last me for years, and years ... and years !! ....

If you do try any of these ideas be sure to let me know as I would love to know how you got one with it.

Bye for now ...

Look at the background ...

Hi Everybody,

I have had some messages saying that you are looking forward to the Hessian flowers videos but that you don't know what Hessian is

This is a card I did quite some time ago and  on it I used a die that is called  Fish Net that I got from Amazon.

The reason I am showing it here is because it looks very similar to what Hessian would look like with some of the strands thinned out a little bit.

I have cut this in Kraft card but I could just as easily have made it my self using real Hessian.

I will do some on a card using the real Mc-coy and show you what it looks like,  next week once the video has gone live featuring the  Hessian.

I have brought the videos forward to Monday, and Thursday  in the hope that it will make things and the material a little clearer for those who have never used it.

Bye for now ...

Birthday Cards

Hi Everybody

I can never have enough birthday cards and they are always the ones that go the quickest.

I send many to the charity shop as they are always needed there. and of course  my family use a lot as well.

This is one that I did some time ago, and has been long gone to somewhere, but I do think the flowers are very refreshing

I have been busy over the last few days with my flower making and I have been using Hessian.

It is really cheap to buy and you can make absolutely loads from one metre of the material.

So over  the next few weeks I will be adding a video  using Hessian in sheets and ribbon form, as well as some with jute cording and creating some flowers that are suitable to add to cards.

They will need boxes for them though as the depth of the flowers is too much for an envelope.

I hope you will enjoy them and he others that will be coming using other materials so make the flowers.

Bye for now ...
