For this little card I used a wall stencil and blended in Distress Oxides over the brickwork in three different shades.
I used Gathered Twigs, Forest Moss and Frayed Burlap to give the shaded look to my wall.
The flower is cut from white card several times and stacked together for strength, and this is an old die that I have had for years.
My apologies if the dies I am using are no longer available but this is part of the challenge to myself to use older stock of anything that I already have rather than buying new stuff.
And that includes things like card, paper packs, dies, stamps and many other things that I have bought over time and often never used, or used very little
And that is because I see some new die, stamp technique and I think " OOOOH got to try that " and purchase everything shown to make that card.
Then I make it once and never again ... that makes what I have bought so expensive just to be put on one side and never used again.
I have heard this described as the FOMO syndrome .... and if you don't know what that is it is the Fear Of Missing Out ....
I also suffer from the Full Set Syndrome and that makes me utterly pathetic and I need to stop.
So older products will be introduced more into my card making and maybe you have them too.
More tomorrow ...
Hugs xx
Love this card & I like your challenge to yourself to use up older products.

Love seeing you using older stuff. It challenges me to see what i also have in my stash that could be used to get a similar result.

This one caught my attention. Love what you did . I love your work and I tend to use your creations as an inspiration while using what I have in hand. I had never heard of FOMO and I might be suffering from that as well especially about watercolour papers.
ReplyDeleteOver the years, I realized that it is a nice marketing ploy. I have decided, like you, to use what I have in hand and enjoy what I already have.
It is fun to re-visit older dies and stamps and create new design.
You are my biggest inspiration.
I still use your 5x7 box set and I am glad I purchased that one.
Thank you for sharing your talent.

ReplyDeleteLove the card and I love that you reusing older things. Have promised myself too to use what I got for the next month 🤠going to a craft show on the 18 th. Will see how that goes 😀 x
ReplyDeleteDear Christina, I love that you have been posting cards made with older dies, folders & papers! It reminds me that I have that die etc, & to use them again or that I have something very similar that would work perfectly! In the past I've been guilty of FOMO beyond belief & agree that many of us have reached a saturation point & need to use items we already own. Thank you for the beautiful ideas & inspiring us to reuse what's in our stash! deborah in TN USA
