Beautiful Card Designs Made Easy

Pretty Pink Lattice

Hi Everybody,

Before I tell you about the card I need to tell you something first....

The Bow Makers that I have added to "My Shop" are going very well but I have kind of shot myself in the foot with the P&P

I didn't realise that they were quite as heavy as they are and so I have not added enough to cover the cost.

The first ones have gone out this morning and I have paid the extra postage to get them on the way to you.

If you have already ordered yours then I will honor the postage that has been charged ... but if you have yet to order one then I am so sorry  but I have had to increase the postage.

They are still a very good price though and I hope it won't put you off buying them and thank you to those who have already ordered.

Now onto the card....  This is quite a large card at 8 1/2 x 6 1/2 " but it has been made very simply.  The base card is white and has been embossed and the pink Grateful  Lattice has been added to the top.

The flowers are rolled from the Spiral Blossoms dies and a silver bead placed in the centre of each.

The top part of the card is two of the Grand Decorative Circles layered together then cut in half.

One half is added to the top part of the card and the other half has been turned into an easel for the back of the card to display it.

The Diamante Flourish is from Want2Scrap  and the trim is some that I bought from the local fabric shop for 10p a metre ....needless to say I bought loads!

And last but not least .... one of the winners of the Wild Orchid Flowers has emailed me to tell me that she has now received her prize and is highly delighted with it.

New Video Tutorials ...

Hi Everybody,

Adding a beautiful bow to your cards can be the finishing touch and there are many ways to get a good result.

This is a Double Bow with Tails made from 1" wide Satin ribbon ...  and a large Dazzler added to cover the knot.

And I used my  ... "Griffy Creation" ... the Wooden Bow Maker which is now available to purchase in  MY SHOP

He has been nose to the grind this weekend making them and then we made a video to show you how I  used mine to get the bows for my cards.

Using a Bow Maker  is not a long tutorial but you will have time for a cuppa ...

The second Video that I promised you was for a variation on the Hinged Cards.

This one is the Filigree Hinged Cards and both these cards are featured in the tutorial.

I loved the pretty Pink Baby Card form yesterday and this is one for the boys.

The little rocking horse is made from Felt and is from Mei Flower   and the pink bib from yesterdays card is also part of the same Baby Range

The sentiment is part of a collection from Lili of the Valley and there are mixed saying on each one.

I use scissors to cut them out and then layer  them to a circular Spellbinders and add them to the card front with foam pads.

I really hope you will enjoy both of the tutorials ... and after a busy weekend we are going out this evening for a lovely meal in our favorite restaurant .... and this time  I will rememeber to take my bank card with me !!!!!

Baby Card

Hi Everybody,

Today we have been busy creating two videos that will be live in tomorrows post and this is the card that will be the subject of both.

The first video will be how to create the Filigree Hinged cards from any of your fancy edged Spellbinders.

This particular one is using the 5 x 7 Detailed Scallops and it makes a good sized card.

The effect is enhanced with the large triple bow that is made from Organza ribbon with a flower centre... and that is the subject of the second video.

Griff has donned his woodworking hat again and created this handy little Bow Maker.

It is available to buy now at My Shop

It is made from solid wood and will sit neatly on your worktop there for whenever you need a bow to add to your designs.

The video will show you how I create some pretty bows that can be added to any of your projects.

The bow maker has been made with dowels that can be moved into the different holes to create various sized bows ...  from really tiny ones up to 4" ones.

And there are two thin dowels and three thicker ones. You will need two thicker ones to make a bow the other is a spare should you lose one.

They are very easy to remove from the holes and place in a new position.

This triple bow has a Dazzler for the centre to hide the knot and will be added to a card soon.

The flowers on the featured card  are from Wild Orchid Crafts  and they are the Cosmos Daisies.

The circular sentiment is a set available from Lili of the Valley  and I have added it to a Lacey Circle.

Green Filigree Card ...

Hi Everybody,

This pretty card is created using the Timeless Rectangles making it into another of the Hinged Cards.

The paper on the front was free from a magazine and has been cut with the A2 Curved Matting Basics  and then just very simply decorated with the butterflies and some trim.

I have used  the Fancy Tags Three and altered the orientation and added in some pearly "Bling"from Want2Scrap

The inside of the card has been lined and once it is finished it measures only 4" x 6" and so fits into a standard sized envelope.

I know USA like to make smaller cards because their postage is so high and this one would fit the bill perfectly.

It could be dressed up for any occasion and is much prettier in real life.

To morrow I think I will move onto something else and away from the Hinged Cards for a while.

I have included in the product list the Big Shot as this machine is amply sized to take many many Spellbinders and is the one I used to create this card.

Question ???

What am I doing wrong ???

Over the last few months I have given away some fabulous stuff.  Some of it I have purchased myself.

But other items have been given to me by companies and whenever that is the case the company has been clearly named in the post ... and I have shown a photograph of what you will receive  in the prize

I have used InLinkz to ensure that the draw is done randomly and fairly ...  to give every body a chance ... and the winners are notified by email from InLinkz of their win.

The winners name is clearly announced on the Blog and Facebook  and I have asked for their land address so that I can post the prize.   I have even said I will post it anywhere in the world to the winner.

I know that many of you enter the draws and would dearly love the prizes on offer and I know that if  I was the winner I would be there straight away claiming my prize.    And so I am more than confused.....   and I am very disappointed to say that the winner of the last "Give Away" for the Wild Orchid Flowers has NOT yet come forward to claim the prize.

These are lovely gifts that I am offering and so I don't understand why someone would add their name and then not check to see if they have won... and this is not the first time it has happened.

Remember the Grand Decorative Ovals that have never been claimed.  (They will be offered again soon.)

So as far as the beautiful flowers are concerned  I have decided to give the winner until tomorrow  morning ... which will make it one week from the draw ... to claim the prize and if it is not claimed then another name will be chosen.

Do YOU think that is fair ???? or maybe I shouldn't have added this post. Tell me what you think please.

So come on   Carol Sue   get your skates on or you will lose the prize ...

One Die ... Two Ideas

Hi Everybody,

Continuing with the theme of Hinged Cards  ...

I have again used  5 x 7  Matting Basics for the base to the first card.

These produce a good sized card that will fit into a standard envelope ...  if you keep the embellishments reasonably flat.

The large double bow to this card is Organza and I have a large beaded pearl Dazzler to add to the centre.

The "Bling" matches the Fancy Tags Three and is...  as always ... from Want2Scrap

The same tag has been used on both cards just the orientation of it changed.

If you look closely at these cards you will see that I have used the same die in two different ways.

The blue card has the Timeless Rectangles added,  to the three layers of the base card,  with foam pads.

But the pink card has used the die to create a hinged filigree card
and this will be videoed this weekend and added to the pages of the website.

The layering for the pink card has used the smaller A2 Curved Matting Basics A and B and the pink spotty layer is from Radiant Rectangles.

The large satin bow has been double tied and a pink Dazzler placed over the knot.

The sentiments for both cards are from Lili of the Valley  and the round one has been cut with Lacey Circles

More tomorrow ...

Pink Hinged Card ...

HI Everybody,

This is another of the Hinged cards and this is very simply made.

All I  have used for this is the Grateful Lattice and Mating Basics.

The main reason I use the matting basics is because I am rubbish at cutting a straight line ... no matter what I do it always goes  wonky.

I try to straighten it that much that the card ends postage sized by the time I have finished and is neither use not ornament.

And I bet a lot of you have the same problem .... Yes?

So out come the matting basics and then my card is neat and tidy from the word go ... and all I did was cut the Lattice out and add it to some patterned card that has been embossed.

The sentiment has been stamped and embossed in silver and cut from Labels 20 which is one of my all time favorite shapes.

I added a very large satin bow with a Dazzler in the centre and then added self adhesive pearls to each of the cross sections of the Lattice.

The finished card is 5 x 7" and I have added my "A"Frame to the back to display it.

More tomorrow
