Beautiful Card Designs Made Easy

Flowers Make the Difference ...

Hi Everybody,

The other day I added a card in Lilac that had the addition of some beautiful flowers and I just wanted to show you the difference that this simple embellishment can make to any of your cards.

Here is that same card without the flowers.

Although it is pretty with all the layers in the soft lilac and white colour scheme for me it is too plain.

The trim and the trellis make it a little more elaborate but the flowers ... well what can I say ...

.... the flowers make it really special and this is the bit I love doing.

The extras added to this card are obviously the flowers ...  from   Wild Orchid Crafts  ... and they  have been sparkled with Glamour Dust.

But the others are the Diamante ... from Want2Scrap  ... around the Labels 20.

The extra Bow to the trim has the addition of  the Diamante buckle from The Hobby House

Now I know not everybody likes my additions because I had an email from someone yesterday who told me ...  very forcefully ... that she did not like my cards as she thought they were too fussy ... and so would not be coming to visit Card Making Magic any more.

But if you are like me and like to add flowers to your creations then pop back on Sunday for the chance to win some of the gorgeous Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts in the April "Give Away"

Hugs xx

  3. I can't understand why that person took the trouble to say your cards were too fussy and wouldn't be visiting your website any more. I mean, I don't like Matalan as the clothes just don't seem to fit me, but I haven't gone in or e mailed to tell them I won't be coming into their shops any more?!!! Why would she think you care?

  6. I think your cards are gorgeous and the flowers make a wonderful embellishment. I do not think it was necessary for someone to mail you to say they did not like your cards and were not coming back - why didn't they just go away.

  7. Love the added flowers Christina.I agree with Crazy Bird can't understand why she needed to tell you. Good job we don't all like the same things it would be a pretty boring world if this was the case. I love to see what you have created each day I find it very inspiring! xx

  8. I don't think giving negative comments is helpful. It is nice to see plain cards aswell as embellished ones and you do that Christina.

  9. As they say Christina - you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. Why bother to email just to criticise - fair enough if it's constructive criticism but this sounds to me like someone has spit their dummy out!! I love the flowers & I love all those layers too so I WILL be visiting card making magic again and again!! Pat x

Not only do you make gorgeous cards to inspire us, you also take the time to share your great talent with us on your tutorials. I appreciate them alot, and would like to thank you. Hugs, Phyllis

  17. Christina, your card is Awesome and you are so right. The flowers make all the difference! As for the person who e-mailed you to tell you your cards were to fussy! This is her problem and it sounds like she does have a problem. I will never understand why anyone has to go out of their way to be mean. It seems there is always one in the crowd. Your following far outweighs this one person! I am truly sorry that someone has to take special time to tell you this. Hugs Lori

  21. I think your cards are stunning, and I love your tutorials that show us so much. I can't imagine why someone would feel the need to leave a negative comment. It will be their loss if they don't return to your site, now, won't it. Please keep sharing your talents and inspiration with those of us who enjoy them. BethAnn .

  24. Hi Christina
I don't usually comment but I do ALWAYS visit your blog, almost every evening, just to see your beautiful little works of art- because your style is my style! I love vintage and I find it very difficult, if not impossible, to make a clean and simple card- I do so love my layers; so please keep up the good work - it's so very inspiring!!

  25. You make such beautiful cards. I just love them. I raised my children that even when something is true or is a fact (in this case it is not) it is not necessary to make a comment about it. I love all the flowers and fussiness as she put it.

  26. I should imagine the woman who said those negative things about your cards are like the people who say nasty things about famous people, just got nothing better to do with their idle hands and minds!! I know you won't change your lovely ways of card making so one gone is no problem!!
