This new Heartfelt Creations die arrived on my doormat this morning from Sunrise Crafts and so I thought I would give it a try out to make a very quick card for a neighbour.
It cuts out all those flowers in one go and then you can curve and curl them to suit your needs and add them to a card.
Now the card turned out very pretty and both I and my neighbour liked the end result.
And of course it is pink and flowery
I wanted one large flower to sit in the centre of a large bow, and the beautiful trail from the flower is a Tattered Lace die called Fuchsia.
I cut this twice ... once in green and again in pink, then cut off the flowers in pink and layered them onto the green and added pearls.
I added my die to a magnetic sheet to hold everything in place while I cut it .... BUT ....
I put the die onto it the wrong way round .... and cut out the magnetic sheet instead of my card !!
So in answer to my own question of how stupid can you get .... well not much more stupid than that.
And let me tell you it's not the first time I have done it either ... you'd think I would learn a lesson wouldn't you.
More tomorrow ....
Hugs xx
Oh dear Christina - and I thought I was the only one who had done exactly that. :). It happened to me when I was multi-tasking so now I don't cook while I am crafting lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Christina, I have also cut my magnetic mat a few times. I think it is because I am used to Grabd Calibur and set up is different. We live and learn and spend money on replacements. I thought I was the only silly billy around. Love your card pink and girly.

Your cards are always so gorgeous and perfect. I'm glad to see you make silly mistakes from time to time too!
ReplyDeleteChristina.... it sure takes a lot of guts AND humility to make a post like this for all to see, so you have them both my dear!
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show that all of us do things we ought not do, especially if something similar has happened before... like you said.... we should learn from our mistakes! But this is real life... we do mess things up now and again!!
It's very nice to know that a 'seasoned' crafter like yourself has these things happen, so we novice crafters should not be so hard on ourselves when we have a big "boo-boo". So sorry about your magnetic sheet, LOL!
Just try to make lemonade from the lemons! Maybe you could turn the magnetic flower cut-outs into refrigerator magnets and the magnetic 'flower' sheet into an embossing template! :)
Clever girl Christina but believe it or not, you're not the only one that has done that! I was recently given an EBosser and I cut through the magnetic mat on it. It's now bound up with washi tape - just one more use for that fab stuff!!! Love Betsy
ReplyDeleteHi Christina the card is beautiful ,very pretty.
ReplyDeleteyou obviously havent watched Nancy on TV as she keeps saying about putting the die face up all the time ,so are you going to have some flower fridge magnets now.

Oh Christina, it's good to know I'm not the only one lol. I have done this as well and you feel such a twit don't you, now I have some really pretty magnetic shapes that I don't know what to do with, so if you have any ideas for them please share. Linda xxx
ReplyDeleteWell, Christina, you now have a nice, strong mask!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card - hope your neighbour appreciates your sacrifice. (The magnetic mat!)
Oh yes! we've all been there Christina. What a beautiful card, very pretty and feminine. Pat x
ReplyDeleteSo glad I am not the only one with a die cut magnetic sheet!!! Fridge magnet flowers, that is the base layer?? I hate to see waste, and I DO like that flower. Lovely card.

It's Ok Christina..I did that with my magnetic mat my ebosser came with..I fixed it with some gaffer tape..lol xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous card and that die makes beautiful flowers! And we all make mistakes, nobody is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteThis card is stunning! I have tried to use a magnetic sheet but it wouldn't go through my gc and didn't want to push it to hard. I used the tattered lace sheet as was told it was thinner than the others but still wouldn't go! Love seeing your cards every morning :) thank you xx
ReplyDeleteOh Christina I just had to have a laugh. It's so great that you have shared you mistakes with us. I make so many sometimes I end up muttering to myself "I bet Christina never has this sort of trouble" and there it is in black & white (or I should say a gentle pink) Lovely you made me smile. The card is as usual, beautiful Beryl xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card Christina and like you and many others, it is not the first time that I have ran my magnetic sheet through either my ebosser or my Big Shot. Red tape works really well at covering up these very silly mistakes. lol I should have learned .............. lol. Hugs, Jen xx

Your card is very pretty, and I suppose you could use the mat as a stencil, now! Nice of you to share your mistakes with us, to teach us a lesson, too. BethAnn M.
ReplyDeleteMod Podge some pretty paper on those magnets and make pretty fridge magnets!
ReplyDeleteLove your card. The magnetic flowers would make a nice little gift for an office mate. Decorate them and they can use them for memo holders on thier file cabinets
ReplyDeleteOh please cancel that unfinished previous comment! As I was saying before i am so pleased I am not the only person to do daft things and I must have these dies I love your card Christina! X
ReplyDeleteCan't say I have done that yet lol,but give me time
ReplyDeletegreat card even still. I am sure you will find something to do with the cut outs
hugs adie

Oh Christina, I so sympathise! Though it's reassuring that someone as expert as you are very occasionally makes the kind of mistake that I make all too often!! Your card is exquisite, as always!
ReplyDeletelove Mags B x
Lets see a card done with the magnets!
ReplyDeleteHi Christina - your card is very pretty...... (and pretty expensive as it turns out!!) I hope your neighbour appreciated it.

Christina it's good to hear that I'm not the only one who did that. I accidentally cut through my tan embossing mat. Luckily one corner caught and it's still hanging on but it flaps every time I go to use it. LOL
ReplyDeleteWell Christina you just made me feel a whole better about cutting into my new plate, I bet you will come up with something to use the flower magnets for. The card as always is beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteOh NO.... that sounds like something I would do, I guess you are all set for some fridge magnets now :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Christina!!
ReplyDeleteI designed the Sun Kissed Fleur die for Heartfelt Creations and also a couple of big stamps that match this die. You can stamp 12 flowers and die cut them all at one time!! You can go to my blog and check the month of May to see the release. Hugs!
