It's a well known fact that we all like white on white cards and even the cream variation .... but what about black on black ??
This is a card I have made with the new Crisscross Pattern die from Spellbinders that I showed you yesterday ... but I have to say I don't know if I like it really.
What do you think?
The card has been made following the video tutorial for
Creating A Frame with Spellbinders and the Crisscross has been layered onto a dull silver card.
The sentiment has been heat embossed in silver and double layered onto some of the silver card.
I added a large double bow using the Bow Maker from the black ribbon that I already had in my "Stash"
The question is ... do I like it ... or not ?? Er! I think NOT ....
More tomorrow ...
Hugs xx
I do. xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Christina,
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't like the card. I realise that it is a sympathy card but it is definitely way too gloomy. I think it needs cream or white to give it a lift.
I normally like everything you do bit this one is not going to make my favourites list.
Regards
Jan
I think the card is gorgeous Christina. Love the black and white and all the pearls. Whether I would send it as a sympathy card? I think not. It reminds me of a board game - draughts or chess - so I think it would be for something like a birthday. But I really do like it. Maybe think of a different occasion in your mind and you will like it again! Lol! love from Christine xx
ReplyDeleteA very unique and unusual card! Black and white cards can be very elegant and sophisticated.... black with ANY color can really make the color "pop"!
ReplyDeleteBut I agree with you about this black on black.... "like it", not so much.... too much black I think... a bit depressing. I love everything about the card except that it's on that black embossed paper. I think it would look much better on white embossed paper..... but then again, what do I know? Maybe it's just too depressing because of the sentiment.... even though we all need to make sympathy cards at times.
sorry Christina this card dosnt do it for me.it is the first one i havent liked .

I love the use of the dies Christina, the rectangles are so pretty. The colourway though wouldn't be my choice, perhaps it's just TOO different for a stick in the mud like me! Pat x
ReplyDeleteHi Christina, this is the first card that you have ever produced that I would have to say, I don't really like it either. Maybe the black on black really doesn't work as well. Sorry. Hugs, Jen x

Hi Christina, love the concept of the card and it would look fab in a different colourway but I have to agree with you,I don't like it either and I think that's the first time I've thought that about one of your cards.I think we all have to push the boundaries sometimes and see what we come up with though.

I love the shapes, layers, ribbons, but the black, not so much. Same card in any color or white, I think, will be stunning. Nice exercise to see, though! Thank you. BethAnn M.
ReplyDeleteI love the card but I would choose it for a different occasion. It would be gorgeous with a bit more color. [black and teal or black and pink]
ReplyDeleteTFS!
I love it, I can never find any idea that sends the message of sharing the sadness the person might feel with their loss but with beauty at the same time. This is perfect to me.

Sorry Christina, I have to agree with most of the comments above, I always like the cards you post, but this one, really not so much. sorry .... it would however look stunning in white imo. sorry.

Hi Christina, well I'm going to be different and say I do like it, so elegant love the dies used xx
ReplyDeleteI like the black on black - I think it looks very elegant. Have a great day :)

I think if it had a cream or white under the die cut in place of black emboss ( maybe even the bow) it wouldn't look so heavy. The lay out and design is wonderful, just to much black for me.
ReplyDeleteI think it would make a great over the hill birthday card. I think it is pretty and elegant.
ReplyDeleteChristina I like it but maybe a bit of sparkle? It is different from anything I have seen of yiurs,All your cards are stunning
ReplyDeleteReally like this card Christina, striking.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a perfect card to give for a 40th birthday. At lease in the US.
