More Royal Blue

Hi Everybody,

Here is another card in the Royal Blue that some of you have said is too bright

I have used the new  French Collection background by  Sue Wilson and it makes a really lovely addition to the card

It is made in the  Hinged Card Style   and it is my  favourite way of creating my base

The new collection of dies are available from  JGD Crafts  along with many other items for your crafting "Stash"

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and this is a collection of   Chrysanthemums, Roses, Sweetheart Blossoms, and Rosebuds

They have all been sparkled with  Glitter Magic    The satin ribbon is from  Mei Flower   that has been tied in a double bow  The pearl flourish is from  Want2Scrap

It is a very pretty card and the blue is not quite as bright as you think in real life.

Italian Background

Hi Everybody,

This pretty card is created using the Italian Background by Sue Wilson from JGD Crafts

I have cut the pattern twice and one of them is silver,  and layered them together with a slight offset to the one below so that the silver just shows through.

The Faux Quilled Blooms and Leaves are also designed by Sue and they have been inked with Distress Inks to add some color

The Bow and ribbon strip have also been used to finish the card and I have used some turquoise pearls to add to the centre of each flower.

Then I was extremely lazy and added in a printed sentiment that is silver foiled.

And that's it quick and easy card that looks better in the hand than it does on a photo.

More on the WOC flowers and Paul has agreed to put together Starter Packs of flowers in various sizes and styles for you to try and there will be several color ways for you to choose from.

So pop over to   Wild Orchid Crafts   later today  and have a good look and see if there is something that takes your fancy .. I am sure you are going to love them and the price too.

Napa Valley

Hi Everybody,

I love all the new dies by Sue Wilson but this one is Napa Valley and I fell for this as soon as I saw it.

It is just soooooo .... well simply beautiful and it cuts like a dream.

Here I have layered it with Spellbinders Matting Basics A and B as a  Hinged Card and if you click the link it will take you to the tutorial on how to make this style for yourself

I cut a patterned panel from the California background and layered it over silver

But before I added it to the card I threaded silver ribbon through white lace and added it at the bottom

The largest shaped layer is from the Decorative Frames Set B from the California Collection and then Napa Valley on the top  Layered up with foam tape between them all for dimension.

The bow is created on a smaller scale as I did the Chocolate Box Bow   but it looks just a good.  The knot is covered with a sparkler from Wild Orchid crafts

All the dies featured are available from JGD Crafts

Italian Collection ...

Hi Everybody,

This pretty card is created from the Italian Collection by Sue Wilson

The dies I have used are the Italian Background and the Tuscany and both sets are from JGD Crafts

I have created this card as a  Hinged Card   and the link will take you to the tutorial for that style

The centre part has been colored with Dusty Concord and Bundled Sage Distress Inks and then sparkled with the Chameleon Glitter

The link takes you to all the colors that are available in the Iridescent Glitters and there you will one I use all the time.

Slightly different mix but the Tuscany has had the same treatment but with Victorian Velvet this time and the rose is created from Felt.

Both pretty cards

Embroidered Striplet

Hi Everybody,

This lovely card is created using the Embroidered Striplet by Sue Wilson from JGD Crafts

It is a beautiful die that comes in two parts.  It has an outed cutting edge and an inner one that will just cut the pattern but leave it in the card

It  is 6" long and 2 1/2 wide and here I have used it twice side by side to cut the pattern in my background

The outer edge is cut from the Cordoba from the Spanish Collection and that leaves a pattern in what would normally be the waste.

These dies are simply beautiful and there is so much that can be done with them.

The ribbon is styled with  the Ribbon loops and it looks lovely with the silver colored buckle.

Altogether a very striking and very pink card !!

Adding the Pearl Sprays to Cards

Hi Everybody,

So yesterdays  video was how to create the pearl sprays for yourself and todays is showing how I added one of them to my card.

It is an easy but effective  way to make these little embellishments
and then I have added them with a hot glue gun.

I have simply pushed them into a flower display and the effect is very pretty ... but to buy these sprays in the shops can set you back a pretty penny.

You can add three or five beads ... or as many as you want to create your spray.

The card is created in the Hinged Card style and the filigree die is the Sue Wilson Seville from  JGD Crafts

The close up shows you how it looks and I will certainly be adding them as an alternative decoration to some of my cards

I hope you enjoy the video and will give this idea a whirl and I will be back with more ideas soon

Yesterday I explained to you about why it is important to add the watermark to your creations and  Sue's Scrapping Memories asked me about it.

It is from Whimsy Stamps and the link will take you straight to the Watermarks

You can choose the style, font, color, size add your name and website to the mark.

They cost $5 (about £3.50 GBP)  and for that you get the watermark that is seen on my cards AND the signature that can be seen at the bottom of my web pages  (Not the blog signature)

So a real bargain and the choices are beautiful

Mum ! Can you make me ....

Hi Everybody,

This must be a  plea that most of us have heard on a regular basis ... and this one came from my youngest daughter two days before we were going away on our train adventure.

She wanted a wedding card in rose pink with flowers, glitter and a matching box ... so not much there then !!

So here is what I created for her to give to her friends on their wedding day and I hope they liked it.

The ribbon is wired and makes beautiful bows

The dies I have used are from the Californian Collection by Sue Wilson

I got all mine from  JGDCrafts   They are a UK company but they will ship around the world

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  and they have a wonderful selection to choose from

They have been sparkled with Glitter Magic

I made the box to compliment the card and added the ribbon around it ... both bows have a diamante and pearls sparkler in the centres

Aren't they clever ??

Hi Everybody,

Yesterday was week 8 of the card class that I run in my home and this is what my two ladies have produced this week.

They are taken step by step  through each stage  but they decide ... with a little guidance ... where they want to place each piece

Along the way they can choose the color scheme for card, ribbons and flowers.

I provide the items that they need for each card and they are so pleased with what they are doing.  It is a lovely way to spend an afternoon

But not once have we finished on time ... we manage to over run each week as we all seem to get lost in the project ... and chatting too.

I think that these cards are beautiful and the ladies are fun to be with. They are enthusiastic and they seem to love the cards that they are making.  So there will be another class next week.

Faux Quilled Blooms and Leaves

Hi Everybody,

Another in blue and I promise I will use another color after this one.

But this blue card has caused many emails as a lot of you seem to like this shade as well.

It is from Limetree Crafts.  I buy their card from the craft shows and it is always good value for money...but the link to their website is not working at present

So there are more new dies used on this card and they are all from the Finishing Touches by Sue Wilson.

I have used  Faux  Quilled  Leaves,  Faux  Quilled Blooms  and  the  Fern  Trio and   I got all of these dies from   JGD Crafts

The ribbon is from   Mei Flower   and I have added ribbon loops with a large pearl and diamante centre which is from Wild Orchid Crafts

The pearls in the centre of each bloom are from Want2Scrap  and it makes for a very pretty card.

Book a Workshop

Now  something I want to share with you ...  and that  is that  I have had  two  invitations  to run workshops using the  Spectrum Noir  Coloring System.

One is 13th September for JGD Crafts and they are based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottingham  and that class is already fully booked.

The other is 4th October for Crafting 4pleasure and they are based in Bristol ... so if you live in the area and would like to attend the workshop then email  Bev at  craftypleasures@hotmail.co.uk

There are some places still available so email now  to secure your place, bring your pens along  and I'll see you there

The Sue Wilson Collections are available from JGD Crafts   and they will ship worldwide

The matching bling for the Labels Eleven comes from Want2Scrap

The lovely pink satin ribbon is from Mei Flower    and I have tied it into a double bow ... and  added three Sweetheart Blossoms from  Wild Orchid Crafts

A really pretty card with lots of depth to it.

Gilding Flakes

Hi Everybody,

A little while ago I added a card that had   Gold Gilding Flakes being used with the Spanish Collection - Seville  from Sue Wilson.

I had several emails asking me how I had made the card and so here is a short video to show you what I did.

The Seville die is from   JGDCrafts  and the Gilding Flakes are from  Indigo Blu  and they have many different colored mixes for you to choose from

The double sided sticky sheet I got at the craft  show but you can get than from many places

I have carried the theme through to the inside of the card so that it compliments the front

The ribbon is from my "Stash" but the flowers and leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts

I have used the glitter from Glitter Magic to enhance the flowers

The sentiment is from JustRite Stampers

The video is only 10 minutes and I hope you will enjoy the effect once you give the Gilding Flakes a try for yourself .

Click this link for more ideas on using  Gilding Flakes   and also using them with your stamps

Blue Blue ...

Hi Everybody,

Here is another blue card using that pretty paper pack from Limetree Craft and the gingham ribbon from Mei Flower

There are lots of layers to this card and the frames are created with the matting basics ... but the background in the frames is the California Background from Sue Wilson

This is another card that is much prettier in real life than the photo shows

You will find the collection of Sues dies at JGD Crafts

I know that some of you want these dies and can't get them in your own country but JGD Crafts will send the dies abroad for you ...

The little sparkly butterflies are some that I bought at the cart show and they were on a roll for 50p .... so a real bargain

It is worthwhile rummaging around the baskets at craft shows as you never know what you will find.

The flowers and the white leaves are from Wild Orchid Crafts

The verse is from the Good Friends/Labels 29 stamp set from   JustRite Stampers

More of the Blues...

Hi Everybody,

I love this shade of blue and it is from a paper pack that I got at the crafts show

There are 20 sheets in the pack and it is from Limetree Craft ...

When I Googled the name it came up with quite a few and I am not sure which one it is and so I haven't added the link.

The lacy panel on the card is  the Californian Collection by  Sue Wilson  and this one is called Hollywood   from   JGD Crafts ... and they will ship abroad for those of you who are having trouble getting the die in your own country.

The pearly flourish is from  Want2Scrap
The ribbon is from  Mei Flower  and is a soft and pretty gingham and I have tied it into a double bow.

The flowers and the Diamante centre to the bow are from  Wild Orchid Crafts   and the little sentiment is from  Crafters Companion

If you look carefully at this card then you can see that the outer blue layer is the waste that is left over from the Reflective Moments

Once the filigree panel was cut for the   Blue card  shown the other day   I  couldn't just throw this away  and so here it is here.

Just by carefully positioning the die on the card you wish to cut can give you something extra ... sort of two for the price of one !!

Purple Haze ...

Hi Everybody,

I found this lovely shade of purple ribbon in my "Stash" and of course it had to feature in a very pretty card.

I tied it into a triple bow and added one of my Primark pieces to the centre.

I also used one in the centre of the flower and so this is a very glitzy card.

I also found the fabric Dragon flies in my bit box and thought that they would look very pretty on the card too.

I added one to the top and one inside to compliment the design.
The dies I have used are from Sue Wilson and  I cannot add photos of the dies yet as they are relatively new ... but the collections are available from   JGD Crafts

I have used. Seville from the Spanish Collection for the back ground  and topped it with San Francisco from the Californian collection.

The card I use is from  Papermill Direct  and is the White Linen at 270 gsm.

It makes an excellent base for my designs and I use it for the layers too.

The sentiment is from Crafters Companion and is one from the Sentimentals Range

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  sparkled up with fine glitter from Glitter Magic

The Diamante around the centre piece is from Want2Scrap  and it is the one that matches  Spellbinders Labels Twenty and it just happens to compliment this shape too.

Guess What ... It's Pink ...

Hi Everybody,

Here we are with another Sunday morning and the start of a new week.  I hope it is a good one for you all and for me it will be a busy one.

After my escapade yesterday at the non existent craft show I thought I would make some pretty cards.

Val H   wrote that at least it showed I was human making a mistake like that.

Yes I am certainly human.  and I  bleed too   'coz  as I was cutting a lovely Fish Tail  into this ribbon ... I continued the very neat V with some really sharp scissors .... in to my finger.

I  had to stop it  bleeding with  some  kitchen roll wrapped around it  ... held in place with a  bright green  elastic band   as I couldn't find anything else  in my first aid box.

This card is created once again from the Sue Wilson dies and for this I have used the background from the Spanish Collection with the Galicia die on the top.

The sentiment is from   Lili of the Valley  and there are several on the same stamp plate.

The pearl flourishes are from  Want2Scrap  and they are around the sentiment label

I have used  Glitter Magic  on the mixture of flowers from   Wild Orchid Crafts  and they have some beautiful new products in this month that are well worth a browse

Rustic Flowers again ...

Hi Everybody,

I have sprayed up another batch of these lovely Rustic flowers and  colored the ribbon  to match with  the  Isopropyl  and Spectrum Noir refills again

The flowers start life in white and then end up in these beautiful shades  and they are so pretty in real life.

I have used the Spanish Collection - Granada  set again and created the base from the largest die in the Seville set.

The colored card is simply Kraft Card layered with white Linen card from the Papermill Direct   and this is the place I get most of my card from.

It is a 270 gsm and such good quality.  It creates my bases and the layers that I like to add ... and often creates some flowers too.

But for this card the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts

The flourish in La Creme is from Want2Scrap  and is added to the sentiment label.

So a little deviation from the pretty pastel colors ... but I will be back to normal again next week.

In the meantime the tomorrows  Friday Freebie is staying with the darker colors  for those that like that look

Two more Collections

Hi Everybody,

Todays card issuing more of the Craft Die Collections from Sue Wilson.

Todays dies are Granada from the Spanish collection and Hollywood from the California collection  and both are from JGD Crafts

Once again it shows you how these dies can be mixed and matched together for some really pretty results.

I have used Broken China to ink the card while it was still in the die and that produces the  pattern that can be seen around the edge.

Here you can see in close up how the Hollywood die looks when it is layered with the Basic Frames

I have used lots of foam tape and pads to give  depth to the design as flat cards although lovely ...  are not my thing.

The little label with the sentiment is one I had in my stash and is from another set

The stamp is one I have had for a long time and I have no idea where it is from

But the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the added glamour is the glitter from Glitter Magic.

All the pearls on the card are from Want2Scrap

Combining Die Sets ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is a combination of two die  sets from Sue Wilson and it shows that whichever sets you have they will all work together.

The layers are in pink and white and I have used the California Collection  and Seville from the Spanish Collection

The sentiment is stamped in pink and embossed in clear onto one of  the centre pieces from another of the Spanish Collection.

The satin ribbon is from my "Stash" and is wrapped around the layers with a diamante flower in the centre of the bow.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and are a mixture of roses, sweetheart blossoms and tulips

The petals are all glamoured up with Glitter Magic  for a really pretty effect.

The full selection of dies are available from JGD Crafts and there are the matching stamps for some of the designs.

Seville and Gilding Flakes

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is using the Seville set from Sue Wilson and is part of her Spanish Collection.

This is such a versatile die that can be used in so many ways... and you will find this die and many others from Sues' other collections at JGD Crafts

Here I have used it with Gilding Flakes for a really opulent look and then layered all the panels together with lots of foam tape.

The ribbon is from my "Stash"

But the fancy centre is one of the pieces from the bracelets that I got in Primark a few weeks ago for a few pounds and dismantled.

It looks very pretty over the knot  and worked out to have cost about 25 pence once the bracelet was pulled apart.... cheap as chips !!

I really like this die set as the lacy effect is right up my street.

I like intricate dies and the filigree look to my cards makes them very feminine ... especially in pastel colors ...
like er ! pink !!

Spot the difference ...

Hi Everybody,

There is  something about this card that I wanted to show you.

This card is only a 6 1/2 inch square but I wanted it to  be subtly  patterned and contain a gift.

I have layered it with wide blue ribbon and tied a single bow with a large blue centre to it

And then there is the addition of  ... the simple hatpin

I used beads that would compliment the color scheme and then just added it to the ribbon.

But I think it turns a "pretty"  card in to something special.

And of course it makes a lovely gift for your recipient.

I have used the Spanish Collection die Seville  by Sue Wilson  from JGD Crafts

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  with the sparkle provided by Glitter Magic

The pearls are from Want2Scrap  and they are Mother of Pearl

The background is created from the Regency Swirls folder from Crafters Companion

Once embossed I have rubbed  Pearl Moon  metallic gilding wax from   Creative-studios    over the top to enhance the pattern
