Italian Collection from Sue Wilson

Hi Everybody,

So  although I have  been busy with all the new Spellbinders  dies that have been  released  I have not forgotten  the other dies that I have in  my crafting "Stash"

This card features  Tuscany  from the Sue Wilson Italian  Collection  and this die is available from  JGD Crafts

I have layered the white panel onto some blue card  that has been embossed with the  Regency  Swirls  folder from  Crafters Companaion

I have sanded it to reveal some of the white core to the card and layered on the other parts with foam pads.

The circle panel has been lightly inked with  Distress Inks in  Bundled Sage and  Faded  Jeans

The white satin  ribbon is from  Mei Flower  and it  is tied with a double bow.   The bow centre and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts

I have sparkled up the petals with Glitter Magic Chameleon glitter   I choose this glitter because it is fine and will blend with any color scheme that you decide on and the sparkle is so pretty.

The pearls on the corners are from Want2Scrap  and the little verse is from Lili of the Valley

In the Pink ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is using the Scalloped Borders and Elegant Ovals layered over the top of the Matting Basics to create a really pretty Hinged Style card

The little set of sentiments give a nice neat finish and are so easy to cut.  I make a very feint pencil line to get the words straight and then erase it once they are in place.

Both the embossing pattern are from folders from Crafters Companion and both make a very neat textured finish to the card.

The beautiful flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts ... and don't forget they are now doing smaller Starter Packs of flowers and embellishments

I have sparkled them up with Glitter Magic Chameleon glitter   The ribbon is from Mei Flower and is a soft gingham that is tied in a double bow.

There are video tutorials for both the Scalloped Borders  and how to use the Matting Basics   and if you click the colored words they will take you to a new page for the either relevant information or the website so you can see the products named

Mum ! Can you make me ....

Hi Everybody,

This must be a  plea that most of us have heard on a regular basis ... and this one came from my youngest daughter two days before we were going away on our train adventure.

She wanted a wedding card in rose pink with flowers, glitter and a matching box ... so not much there then !!

So here is what I created for her to give to her friends on their wedding day and I hope they liked it.

The ribbon is wired and makes beautiful bows

The dies I have used are from the Californian Collection by Sue Wilson

I got all mine from  JGDCrafts   They are a UK company but they will ship around the world

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  and they have a wonderful selection to choose from

They have been sparkled with Glitter Magic

I made the box to compliment the card and added the ribbon around it ... both bows have a diamante and pearls sparkler in the centres

The card itself is created in the hinged card style   and I have used the 5x7 Matting basics sets A & B

The only decoration on the card is ribbon from Mei Flower  with a little dazzler in the centre from Wild Orchid Crafts  .... not a flower in sight.

Aren't they clever ??

Hi Everybody,

Yesterday was week 8 of the card class that I run in my home and this is what my two ladies have produced this week.

They are taken step by step  through each stage  but they decide ... with a little guidance ... where they want to place each piece

Along the way they can choose the color scheme for card, ribbons and flowers.

I provide the items that they need for each card and they are so pleased with what they are doing.  It is a lovely way to spend an afternoon

But not once have we finished on time ... we manage to over run each week as we all seem to get lost in the project ... and chatting too.

I think that these cards are beautiful and the ladies are fun to be with. They are enthusiastic and they seem to love the cards that they are making.  So there will be another class next week.

Card for a 21st

Hi Everybody,

This is a card I was asked to make for a special birthday.

The remit was for a pink and flowery card and I think it fits that bill.

It has several layers using Labels Twenty Five all separated by foam tape to give height.

It is a delicate shade of pink and the ribbon is double tied into a beautiful bow.

I have added a large pearl cluster to the centre.

There are tiny pearls around the frame and the sentiment and they are from Want2Scrap    They give a very subtle decoration to the card.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts   ... and if you haven't discovered WOC yet then you are missing a real treat.

Their  flowers are gorgeous .... well priced and they ship worldwide ... what more could you ask for ???

For the inside I have added a verse and it is from a CD by Crafters Companion.  ... but it is an old one and so may no longer be available

There is also a pocket for the buyer to add her  signature to the little  label inside

The numbers are die cut from Glitter card and added with foam tape.

The flowers have the addition of sparkle from Glitter Magic

I have also made a matching box for this card.

It is going to be hand delivered so no problem with the post.

Creating a Corsage ...

Hi Everybody,

No post yesterday, but I was not idle.  My "Film Crew" and I made a short tutorial.

Over the last few  projects I have been adding some  pretty flower corsages and I have been  asked if  I can  show how I make them.

So while it was  raining yesterday  my "Film Crew" was there,  with his trusty camera,  and  we did a little tutorial  on the way I do them ...  you may have your own way.

But if you are new to  cardmaking  then maybe this  will help you with some ideas on how to  decorate the front of your  designs.

It's not a long  one but I hope you  will enjoy it and let me know what you come up with

Please take a look at the tutorial for Small Flower Corsage   and the Decorative Hatpins are now for sale in  ...  My Shop  ...

This is the one I created in the film and I think it looks gorgeous now that the glue is all dry.

Can't wait to add it to a card for a Special Occasion and  I will be sure to show you when I do.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts

The beautiful pearls are from Want2Scrap

Mannequin Parade

The other day I bought some dress forms from Cardcraft Plus  and I posted a picture of the bare mannequins on my blog.

They are gorgeous and although the store is well worth a visit the dress forms are all gone.  How do I know this ????? .... Because I went back to buy more without success.
(Sob Sob)

So I have now decorated one of them and it is gorgeous and it is a Christmas prezzie for ...... ME!!   'Coz now it's done I can't bear to part with it ... and it is much prettier in real life.

I had such a good time adding all the little touches to the form and I have paid great attention to the detail.

I have given her a tiny pearl necklace and the small roses on her lapel are from Wild Orchid Crafts

There are tiny bows and buttons on the back of the dress to hold her necklace and the lace in place.

The butterflies are the Spellbinders Les Papillion

The dress is created from an Indigo Blu  stamp and was very easy to do .... but I will go through the process  in a video coming soon.

This company also has bare dress forms but they are not as big as this.   They come complete with a stand and so well worth your consideration.

The stamp is called "Bubbles"  and there are some really pretty stamps to choose from.

But once the dress form was covered I couldn't stop there ... Oh no!! she had to have a hat and so that was the next thing to make.

I  made it from pink felt and then dressed it with flowers, ribbons and pearls and added in some feathers for good measure.

And here is my completed project just in time for my Christmas present.

I shall give it to myself on Christmas morning and I shall be so surprised at this beautiful gift.

Then she will take pride of place on my dressing table so that I can see her everyday.

Enamelled Roses

A while ago I added a post and a tutorial to the website, on making Paper Roses for your cards, and it proved to be very popular.

I had many emails about them and lots of photos added to the Gallery  of  how others had made their flowers look.

The tutorial showed you how to create the flowers without any special punches.... just make your own template.

You  could then make them to any colour and paper that you have in your "Stash" and then they would always blend in with your design.
But the next step after this was to enamel them and make them look glossy... and so the video for the Enamelled Rose  came about.

This process needed some Embossing powder and it needed to be heated until it melted... so not a good idea to use around children.

But the effect was to give the Roses a glass like appearance and they are very strudy once they have cooled.
And certainly made them look different from the paper roses that we started out with.

Cute Little Mouse

This character is from the Sugar Plum Daisy CD from Polka Doodles and is one of the many cute images on there.

The papers and sentiment are all from the same CD and have been layered up with Spellbinders

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and they are all added to the bottom of the card with some Pinflair Glue

But the interesting piece is the strip along the left hand side.

I cut some Spellbinder borders for another card and by carefully positioning the die  this is the  strip that was left over

Normally this is the bit that is just thrown away ... but I decided to add some yellow ribbon  wrapped  aound the shape and I think it makes a really neat addition to the card.

And as always ... being a Frugal crafter ... I can't throw anything away ... that's why my "Stash" is spilling out the door

The pearls around the edge of the card are all made with  Cosmic Shimmer  glue ... which is a cheaper alternative to the real thing.

Very shortly there is going to be a whole new look to the Blog.

I have been working with Katie Price and she has come up with a really beautiful design for my pages. It is all pink and flowery to match the title of the Blog and I am very pleased with the result.

Let me know what you think about it.

Another Competition ...

Last year I seemed to have got the bug for entering competitions.
A few days ago I showed you a card that I entered into one of them ... and I didn't win.

Well this is another card I sent to yet another magazine and ....

... I din't win this either (Sob! sob!)

But at least I had a try ... and I thought this card was so lovely.

I was so pleased with the end result that I did a video on how to make this Mosaic Card  and it uses some gilding flakes  and a piece of double sided adhesive sheet to  get the result.

Much prettier in real life than the photo shows.

The image and the sentiment are from Lili of the Valley  and their stamps are utterly gorgeous. You will be spoilt for choice if you visit so be warned.

The flowers and the pins are from  Wild Orchid Crafts  and are such a beautiful addition to any card

But I also entered yet another competition with these three card projects and this time I was ....

..... no not the winner ... but one of the Runners up!! And guess who was really pleased with herself.

I went around with a smile on my face for days and showed the picture of my cards, in the magazine, to anybody that would take take a look.

Even the postman was treated to this exclusive look at my cards.... I think he thought I was mad!

And again Lili of the Valley stamps for the rabbits and the child and the Poppies are from Clarity Stamp  ... Another website with an amazing array of stamps.

So maybe this year will see me entering all over again and who knows what will happen this time.
