Alphabets ...

 Hi Every body,

I thought that for todays card I would go back to Spellbinders.

This one is using Alphabets which are excellent if you want  to personalise the card for any recipient who is lucky enough to get one of your beautiful designs.

I have made a short video to demonstrate these lovely sets ... Spellbinders Alphabets

This particular set is called Donnas Alphas and is an excellent all rounder.

It can be used to add any name or occasion to any of your projects.

Inking  through the die before you remove the card makes the letter stand out even more.

This cards has used the more intricate Jewel Alphabet and this one is very ornate.

I have used a silver Pen Touch pen to go around the edges of the letters on both of the cards.

And then I have added them at different heights on the card with foam pads.

Both of these Alphabet sets are available from  Save On Hobbies   and the price is  really good value for money.

The addition of the flowers has made them even prettier and they are from Wild Orchid Crafts .... and they have a 30% off sale going on at the moment.

The "Bling" is as always from Want2Scrap

There is still time to add your name to the list for the June Give Away   so click the link to win one of the three copies on offer.

If you can't wait and want to buy your copy of ....  Farmyard Fellows   then this is the place to go

Hi Everybody,

The red cross that appears at the side of your name means that you can delete it if you wish and please do if you add it more than once.

Owl in the Cherry Tree ...

Hi Everybody,

This week I have been featuring the  CD Farmyard Fellows from  Clint Rose  and this is another way to use the images ...and it's not as the artist intended.

The  images are complete with a stand ... so that they can be displayed ...  but I have cut this Owl  from the stand used it in quite a different way.

If you refer back to yesterdays card ... made using the same owl ...  you will see that  it has the wings raised to hold the plaque of your choice from the CD

On this one I have cut the wings off and re-positioned them so that they are at the side of the body.

Then from the Spellbinders Cherry Blossom die set I have cut several branches and some of the flowers ... and arranged them so that the Owl is standing on one of the branches.

The background has been inked to look like the sky and the way to do that is in a video  Cloud Effect

I have added some large Googly eyes to make her look more like a girl and in the centre of all the flowers I have added in a small pearl.   The "Thank You" sentiment is from the CD and is just one of several for you to choose from.

If you would like to win one of the THREE copies that I have then you will need to pop over to June Give Away   and add your name to the list.  You will need to become a  follower and leave me a comment please.

I have added some more things into the prize and it will be drawn on Saturday morning

So as well as the CD three people will also get a set of SeeD's rubber stamps + 6 metres of ribbon + a small jar of mixed pearls and gemstones for you to embellish your designs.

The CD has been donated by the artist Clinton Rose  and if you show you support of this new designer that would be fantastic.

Pop over to his Facebook page and click the "like" button and show him you care... tell him I sent you over there please...

And if you can't wait to see if you are a lucky winner then you can always buy a copy now .....  .Farmyard Fellows ....

Owl House ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays character is one that I could send to someone who has  moved house.  And this cute Owl is settling into his tree house.

It is another image on the CD from Clinton Rose .... Farmyard Fellows

Each of the characters is designed  so that they are free standing  .... but you don't have to use them that way.

This one has been decoupaged onto  a card instead and I have used some brick paper behind the tree.

I have separated all the layers with Pinflair Glue Gel  and the "Home Sweet Home" plaque has inked in nails to hold it to the branch.

The Woodpecker and the butterflies are also on the disc along with the tiny snail at the bottom of the card.

They are sure to be a delight for children to both give and make for them selves.

If you would like to win one of the 3 copies that I have then this is the place to go ...... Farmyard Fellows

Add your name and email ..... but only once as duplicates will be removed.   If you don't have a blog leave the URL box blank .... and leave me a comment.

You will need to become a follower to be in with the chance to win.

Playful Puppy ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays character is one of nine images from the hand of a brand new designer Clint Rose who has put his collection together on one CD.

There are separate sheets of clothes for you to cut out,  or hobby items that can be added to each one to personalise it for your recipient.

There are also several sentiments to choose to suit different occasions  and as it is "Fathers Day" next week I thought this one would be appropriate.

I have cut out all the layers for the puppy and because I am not neat at cutting I have edged all my shapes with a black pen.  It just  helps to disguise them a  little.

They have been curled in my fingers  to give some shape to the body and then layered up appropriately with Pinflair Glue Gel.

I have kept the additions for this guy to the minimum and all I have added is the badge for No.1 and some Googly Eyes.

The CD is very easy to use and each of the images comes in two sizes.  It's just a case of choose and print,  and then decoupage to your hearts content.

And I have not one  ... but  3 CD's to "Give Away"   so if you would like to win a copy of  ...  Farmyard Fellows  ... then click the link to take you to the page.

Add your name and email address ...  join the group of followers  and leave me a comment ...

The draw will take place on Saturday.  If you don't have a  Blog then leave the URL box blank.

There is a link on that page for you to BUY the CD if you can't wait .... and you could pop over to Clints' Facebook page and click the "Like"  ... and tell him I sent you.

June "Give Away" ...

Hi Everybody,

Over the last few months it has been my pleasure to have a "Give Away" and we have had some fantastic prizes.

I have been very lucky to have friends in the right place and they have very kindly supplied me with some of the items that have been on offer.

And this one is another super prize for you to win ... and I have three copies on offer.

This was offered to me by Clinton Rose who is a brand new designer from Suffolk.

Clint is an electrical installer by trade, but  he has now ventured into the world of cardmaking and this is the very first CD that Clint has produced and understandably he is very nervous about how it will sell.   But at the reasonable price of £7.95 it is a good deal.

So drum roll please ....... as I introduce you to "Farmyard Fellows"  .... This has some really cute critters on there that you can decoupage and dress up ...  or not as suits your needs.

They have lots of different sentiments to them that you can mix and match with each of the nine animals that are on the CD ... Happy Birthday, Be Mine, Thank You to name a few.

And there are  many extras that can be added to each character too  ...   like hobbies and clothes as well as flowers and butterflies so that you can personalise them for your recipients.  Kids will love them.

Over the next few days I will be adding a new card each day so that you can see what the CD is all about.

So pop over to his Facebook Page and tell him that  I sent you.   Click the "Like" button  to show him we care and are happy to support new designers on their journey.

If you would like to win one of the three copies that I have then  you will need to be a regular follower.

Add your name and email address to the list at the bottom of the page.   If you don't have a blog then leave the URL box blank ... and only one entry please as duplicates will be removed.

The draw will last for one week and the winners will have a further week in which to claim their prize.

And if you can't wait and want to buy a copy then here is the link for this new CD ....

Pink Ovals ...

Hi Everybody,

I love this card and it is much prettier in real life than the photo shows.  It's a really delicate shade of pink

It is once again a Hinged Card as I enjoy this way of making the base.

The white layer has been embossed with one of the new A4 folders from Creative-Studios   and is the one called Basket Weave.

The next layer is pink card but I have put something called paper straw on it and this was from the Pound shop .... and guess how much it was ?????

Around these two layers I have wrapped some of my bargain ribbon with a big double bow tied with the Bow Maker  and these are selling very well in My Shop

Now in the centre of this bow I have added a large spacer with a brad in the centre and both of these can be bought from The Hobby House    ..... and doesn't it look wonderful???

The larger pearls are some of the Bulk Bling from  Want2Scrap  and I have added one in the outer ovals, and two  little stick pins are the finishing touch.

I hope you will be back tomorrow as a new "Give Away" is being added  and you won't want to miss it.

To be in with a chance to win you will need to add your name to the list.

Decorative Labels Eight ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is not  very big only (4" x 6") and  there are no deep embellishments on it either ... so a double bonus there.

And that means it will fit into a standard sized envelope for posting.

It use several different dies and they are listed below.

The card has been created from the Hinged Style  that allows you to keep the pattern at the top of the card.

The ribbon around the panel is from Mei Flower  and is a beautiful white satin edged in silver.

The sentiment is part of a collection from Lili of the Valley  that  I have stamped and heat embossed  in silver and matted  onto some silver mirror card.

All this is layered onto the Radiant Rectangles with foam pads.  The backing paper is from the Floriography CD and I have edged this with a silver Metallic Ink  pen

There is just one pearl on the knot of the ribbon that is part of the Bulk Bling from Want2Scrap

I am adding a new "Give Away" this weekend so I hope you will like what is going to be on offer.

Using Scraps ...

Hi Everybody,

Do you have favorite papers that you have used and then end up with lots of  left overs that aren't really big enough to do another card ???

I have lots of these and I cannot for the life of me throw them away.

I have flower making sessions where I will spend the whole day making lots of different coloured flowers and packing them neatly ready to use.

But sometimes I have papers that all blend together and with these I can cobble a card that I am happy with and this is one such card.

These are all papers that I had left over from the projects I made using the Funky Hand CD "Wishes and Kisses"  and I have just cut them into equal squares to fit my card front.

It is made from the Hinged Card style using the Matting Basics and the only other die I have used is the small label form the Radiant Rectangles.

Onto this I have stamped and heat embossed my sentiment from   JustRite

But the card itself is made from the Mosaic Card Tutorial   and I have used a small amount of Gilding Flakes.

Once the Big Double Bow was added and the pearly  Bling  from Want2Scrap ....  I think the card can be said to be finished

Another Flower ...

Hi Everybody,

Here is another of the flowers made from the Daisy Heads by Spellbinders.

The card itself has been cut with the plain squares in both the large and small sizes... and then layered up with the Fleur Di Lis squares.

I have stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and added it with foam pads to the card.

I ran a silver Calligraphy pen around the edge first to give it an outline ... and you can just make it out in the photo.

The Belle Rose stamp has been heat embossed in silver also and then cut out with the matching die.

The flower is made as on the video Daisy Heads Flower  and then I have sprinkled them with a very shiny silver Glitter that I found in my "Stash"

The large pearls are some of the Bulk Bling form Want2Scrap  and at 8mm they are quite large.

I don't know where the papers are from but they are on my PC and I print them off whenever I need more.

So more tomorrow...

P.S. There is a new "Give Away" coming soon so pop back to add your name to the list

Spellbinder Flowers...

Hi Everybody,

This card has been the subject of a new video that has been added to the website today.

It uses a die that was one of the first ones I ever bought and it makes really pretty flowers.

It is an old die and the only way I can show you what it looks like is to take the photo.

But the flower on the card is made from this set and the Video Tutorial will show you how .

The Daisy Heads Flower is another short film but it will give you the idea of how to shape the petals.

I have been asked if I am going to continue with the YouTube Videos and the answer is "Yes"

They are the links that I add to the written and edited pages on the website.

But my classes with The Art Studio will have more in depth content to them and the photos will not be shown on the Blog.

I have had several emails from new joiners to my online class and they are all delighted with the content.... and are eagerly awaiting the next class.  Thank you for your support and your comments.

Stamped and Inked

Hi Everybody,

First I wanted to say "Thank You"  to those of you who have joined my new class with The Art Studio

The first class is is available to buy and there will be a permanent link ... to all the classes added ...  in the sidebar on the right.

Once you have purchased the class you have unlimited access to it 24/7 and it  will never go away.

To get there just click the logo for The Art Studio and I hope you will come and join me.

There is a FAQ tab at the top of the new page that will give you lots more information.

The cards we create in the classes will not be added to the blog and you can email me with regards to the class at ...    cgriffiths@scrapbooknewsandreview.com

Todays card is a very simple one  that has been created from the Labels 29 stamp that matches the die... and then cut out with that die.

I stamped the image with the Big'n Juicy Waterfall Ink pad which gives the two colour look and then I used Spectrum Noir pens to colour in the scrolls and flowers on the stamp. Pearls have been added to the flower centres.

I used a good quality 300 gsm card to give some substance and then added it to the card base with foam tape. The backing paper is from a PolkaDoodles CD

I wrapped a beautiful wide satin ribbon ... from Mei Flower ... around it first and tied a big chocolate box bow then added a pearl flower to the centre to cover the knot, and the sentiment is from Lili of the Valley

Pearly swirls and edges have been added for a touch of glamour and they are from Want2Scrap

The large pearls at the right hand top are some of the "Bulk Bling"  that is bought by the 1/2 cupful and you get lots of pearls for your money.
