Beautiful Card Designs Made Easy

Two more Collections

Hi Everybody,

Todays card issuing more of the Craft Die Collections from Sue Wilson.

Todays dies are Granada from the Spanish collection and Hollywood from the California collection  and both are from JGD Crafts

Once again it shows you how these dies can be mixed and matched together for some really pretty results.

I have used Broken China to ink the card while it was still in the die and that produces the  pattern that can be seen around the edge.

Here you can see in close up how the Hollywood die looks when it is layered with the Basic Frames

I have used lots of foam tape and pads to give  depth to the design as flat cards although lovely ...  are not my thing.

The little label with the sentiment is one I had in my stash and is from another set

The stamp is one I have had for a long time and I have no idea where it is from

But the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the added glamour is the glitter from Glitter Magic.

All the pearls on the card are from Want2Scrap

Gold Majesty Circles

Hi Everybody,

For todays card I have used elements from several different dies and layered them all together.

The centre piece is from the  Gold Majesty Circles and I have listed them all below.

Each layer is separated with foam pads to give it lots of depth.

I inked through the die with Tattered rose for a soft and peachy look and the base layer is peach and silver foiled card.

The lovely satin ribbon is from Mei Flower and I have used a diamante and pearl centre in the bow.

I have also added in a beautiful pearls and diamante Hatpin that can be removed as a gift and matches the shade of peach perfectly.

There are small teardrop pearls on the centre piece and around the edge of the frame and they are from Want2Scrap

This is a card that looks much better in real life and all the layers give it real dimension.

Combining Die Sets ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is a combination of two die  sets from Sue Wilson and it shows that whichever sets you have they will all work together.

The layers are in pink and white and I have used the California Collection  and Seville from the Spanish Collection

The sentiment is stamped in pink and embossed in clear onto one of  the centre pieces from another of the Spanish Collection.

The satin ribbon is from my "Stash" and is wrapped around the layers with a diamante flower in the centre of the bow.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and are a mixture of roses, sweetheart blossoms and tulips

The petals are all glamoured up with Glitter Magic  for a really pretty effect.

The full selection of dies are available from JGD Crafts and there are the matching stamps for some of the designs.

Seville and Gilding Flakes

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is using the Seville set from Sue Wilson and is part of her Spanish Collection.

This is such a versatile die that can be used in so many ways... and you will find this die and many others from Sues' other collections at JGD Crafts

Here I have used it with Gilding Flakes for a really opulent look and then layered all the panels together with lots of foam tape.

The ribbon is from my "Stash"

But the fancy centre is one of the pieces from the bracelets that I got in Primark a few weeks ago for a few pounds and dismantled.

It looks very pretty over the knot  and worked out to have cost about 25 pence once the bracelet was pulled apart.... cheap as chips !!

I really like this die set as the lacy effect is right up my street.

I like intricate dies and the filigree look to my cards makes them very feminine ... especially in pastel colors ...
like er ! pink !!

Butterfly Meadow

Hi Everybody,

This lovely stamp  is one that was  created to match the  Spanish Collection of dies from Sue Wilson.

It is a  silhouette stamp and so I have  stamped it in black and embossed it in clear.

Then I blended over it all with Victorian Velvet and Broken China Distress Inks for a soft and faded effect.

The top layers  are die cut  from the Seville set  with the lacy panel cut in half and layered behind the stamped layer.

Both the whole collection of  dies and the matching stamps are  available  from   JGD Crafts

The only other addition to the card is a little ribbon and some pearls from Want2Scrap

Very simple card and very quick  to do for a really subtle look.

Hi Everybody,

It's that time of the week again and this is the card on offer today

It is created with turquoise Centura Pearl card from Crafters Companion

I have used Fancy Tags to create the label fro the sentiment and it has been framed in the matching "Bling" from Want2Scrap

I have used black pearls to enhance each of the cross section in the embossed panel and also to add a trail from the organza butterfly at the bottom of the card.
The inside is decorated and lined and it has a matching turquoise envelope

It is a pretty card and looks much better in the hand.

So if you would like to win this card than all you have to do is leave me a comment.

If your name is chosen then you will need to send me your  postal address to claim it.

The name of the winner will be given in tomorrows Blog post so don't forget to come back and see if it is you

Spot the difference ...

Hi Everybody,

There is  something about this card that I wanted to show you.

This card is only a 6 1/2 inch square but I wanted it to  be subtly  patterned and contain a gift.

I have layered it with wide blue ribbon and tied a single bow with a large blue centre to it

And then there is the addition of  ... the simple hatpin

I used beads that would compliment the color scheme and then just added it to the ribbon.

But I think it turns a "pretty"  card in to something special.

And of course it makes a lovely gift for your recipient.

I have used the Spanish Collection die Seville  by Sue Wilson  from JGD Crafts

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  with the sparkle provided by Glitter Magic

The pearls are from Want2Scrap  and they are Mother of Pearl

The background is created from the Regency Swirls folder from Crafters Companion

Once embossed I have rubbed  Pearl Moon  metallic gilding wax from   Creative-studios    over the top to enhance the pattern

Wednesday Card Class ...

Hi Everybody,

Last weeks card class was really good with my two lovely ladies.

I have their permission to blog about it and to show you what they did in the class.

And I stress that these cards are the ladies makes ... not mine ... and aren't they lovely.

These cards are Gatefold but they are held closed  with a shaped belly band around the middle.

Both have a little verse in the centre of the card that they stamped and embossed.

They enjoyed making their cards and they choose the color that they wished to use to make the weeks creation.

We  add in the  flowers   ribbons  and  pearls  as we completed the card ... and we added  in the little bit of glitter to make the whole thing sparkle.

So  far  we have  only used a  punch to get the patterned edges ...  but this week we are going to see how many ways we can use one set of dies.

The Coronation Street Tour ...

Hi Everybody,

What a good day out we have had and the weather has been glorious.

Griff and I both took pictures and here are some to show you what was there.... they will bring back memories especially for those who used to live in England ... and maybe in the North West.

Here is my "Film Crew" outside the Rovers Return and as always with trusty camera in hand ...

We saw the inside of the bar as a separate scene but you are not allowed to take photos inside   ... only of the actual street
So here is the front of the pub in all it's glory.

It seemed really strange to be sitting in the one of the booths in the Rovers and see where all the filming has been done for years.

But of course the whole set has now been re built in another location.

So this tour of the old studios is only available for the next few months and then it will be gone .... forever.

Here is the Kabin where Rita and Norris work and the window is full of really old fashioned stuff.

You can't actually go inside these buildings but there are areas that you can get to round the back of some of the houses.

Kevin and Tyrones garage is full of graffiti and looks really small.

It is right next door to  the factory called Underworld.

And of course Gails house has to share the same area at the front.

One of the sets we saw was the inside of her house and that too is really small.
Roy's Rolls where poor Hayley has just died.... and there was her flowery coffin on display on one of  the sets inside.

And if you watched those episodes of Hayley I bet you cried ... I know I did ... but behind the cushion so Griff  couldn't see me.

And last but not least here is me outside Audreys Hair dressers shop waiting to get my hair done .... but she wasn't there today !!

All in all a really good day and then home for a salad tea and to find that the postman had left me ...  lots of lovely new Sue Wilson dies.

So I guess that after my Card Class with my two lovely ladies tomorrow ... I shall be busy for the rest of the week playing with dies.

Scheduled Post ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays post is a scheduled one because as you read this I will be doing the Coronation Street Tour in Manchester  and having a fabulous time with my "Film Crew"

I have wanted to do this for so long because this  street set  is closing down now that it has moved to new premises.

I will take some photos to show you for those who love to watch the programme.

But in the meantime here is todays card.... and it is a white on white theme.
The background is created using the 3D M-Bossabilities folder Framed Labels Eighteen  which has been Letterpressed with cream embossing powder

The pearls are from Want2Scrap  and match the Fancy Tags Three with the sentiment in it

The flowers and the  sparkly centre to the bow  are from   Wild Orchid Crafts

And once again I have added in a beautiful Hatpin ... and there is a tutorial to show you how I made some of this style pin  a few years ago ...  Decorative Hatpins

So another card will be added tomorrow on my return from a lovely day out .... just hope it doesn't rain

Tibetan Silver ....

Hi Everybody,

Do you remember me telling you that I had ordered a lot of Tibetan Silver from China to make my hatpins with ???

Well here it is and if you look carefully at the label you can see that I got stung by the Customs charge ... and had to pay another £28 on top of the cost of the items and postage.

I was not a happy bunny I can tell you.
Once the box was opened this is what I have and it was like Aladdins Cave.

Silver filigree beads and bead caps and spacers and pearl beads .... Oh it was fabulous.

So of course I just had to have a play with it all and see what goes with what.

The pins I used for this are 4 1/2 inches and they are from The Sparkles Group  and they are complete with end protectors.

These are just an idea of what I can make and they look really pretty.

In the box was also some beautiful glass beads as well as the pearl ones.

I am going to really enjoy making these hatpins up into lovely collections for my Etsy Shop.

There is one more box on its way and I just hope the customs man keeps his charges to himself on the next one.

Spanish Collection - Seville (The Box)

Hi Everybody,

Here as promised is the box that matches the card I showed you yesterday and it is such a pretty combination.

It stays with the Sue Wilson Craft Dies from the Spanish collection - Seville.

The die is available from JGDCrafts  and they have the full range of the new dies

I have added in the video to take you step by step through the making of the box and of course you can decorate yours any way you wish.

It just makes your card something really special to give and if you added in one of the Decorative Hatpins as well then  it is a gift as well as a card.

I have used some really lovely striped pink card that is 240 gsm for both the card front panel and the box lid.

It is a good weight to use and gives some structure to the lid when you start to die cut it.

Keep the fancy card for the top and use a plain white for the base of your box .... I used the same card for my cards base and it is from Papermill Direct

I have lined the box with pink tissue paper to keep the card clean and I must admit that I really do like this little card.

Previous students of The Art Studio ...

Hi Everybody,

This is important for previous students of The Art Studio ...
so please read it carefully

Some time ago I had to tell you the The Art Studio was closing down.    As this was the website that was offering my videos for sale it was quite a shock ...  I can tell you...  but it was something that I had no control over as it was not my website

So that other people would not buy any more videos from the  TAS   website I removed their  button from my side bar.   And I had to try and find a means to store the videos so that they could still be offered for sale as there is now no access to their pages

Over the last few weeks  Griff and I have been  re editing the tutorials  and moving them  somewhere else so that I have control over them and this has been a  major task and learning  curve all over again ....  I am pleased to say that it is now partially completed ...  but for now I have only been able to move the Spellbinders  Classes.

I have asked for a list from   TAS of the students  that have already  purchased the  classes but as yet  I have not received one ...  and this leaves me with a big  dilemma.

The classes were  sold on an  unlimited service with access  to the  videos  24/7  but  I have very limited knowledge  as to who has  purchased what.

So can I ask you please to let me know if you where one of the people who bought a class before
The Art Studio closed  down.

If you can email me ... christina@card-making-magic.com ... with any receipts that you had for the purchase ...  which class it was that you bought and when ...  and your full name and the customer number that you were given at the time ... then all this will help me to find you.

Together we can sort this out but it is in the early stages yet and so I ask that you be patient with me until all the glitches are sorted out ..... Thank you !

Sue Wilson Craft Dies - Seville

Hi Everybody,

I really love this new die from the talented Sue Wilson .. it is so delicate and lacy and a joy to work with.

This one is from the Spanish Collection and is called Seville.

This pretty card is true to my style of flowers, ribbons and pearls and it looks so much better in the hand.

The die is from  JGD Crafts  and they have all the range in stock and they will ship abroad too... so good for all you non UK crafters

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  and they are sparkled with Glitter Magic

The making of this card has been filmed and is now ready for you to view.... and tomorrow I will add in the video of the box to match.

The petty  gingham ribbon on this card is from Mei Flower  and the  pearly centre to the bow is from WOC

The little  sentiment  is one from an  A5 sheet of verses from  Lili of the Valley  and I stamped it in color and embossed in clear powder.

The finished card is about 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches and looks perfect with a box
