More Ice Grey

Here is another Christmas card coloured with Spectrum Noir Ice Grey

This is one of the six pen sets from Crafters Companion and is such a versatile set to buy.

The image is yet another from the Just Inklined CD "The Next Big Thing" and there are images on it to cover any occasion I need

Once again it features a snow scene and I have highlighted all the snowy elements with Glamour Dust.

The only other colour I have used is to add a touch of Orange into the windows.

The sentiment and the papers have been matted and layered onto black card.

I added a fun element to the card in the backing paper ... which is map so that Santa won't get lost....

And the last thing I did was to dot some Quickie glue pen over the image and sprinkle it with Glamour Dust for falling snow.

Pearl corners and a snowflake brad complete the look.

The Ribbon Room ...

I  am always  happy to share a  really good  find with you and this one  is no  exception.

I need quality ribbon for my cards and when I find one at a good price it is a bonus.

The Ribbon Room are an online supplier with something for every occasion, from Christmas  through to Everyday ribbon.... and everything in between.

Take a step inside  The Ribbon Room.
The ribbon featured here is from the Wedding collection and has tiny hearts embroidered into it.

This is the cream version and it is much prettier in real life than on the photo.

The Pearyl Swirl  is  Finesse La Creme  from Want2Scrap

A  project  would not be finished   for me without the addition of both these  embellishments.

Even someone as beautiful as the ever gorgeous Maude needs something to enhance her looks.

This is Maude Doodlebuns all dressed up in her Christmas finery.

She is one of my all time favorite characters from
Just Inklined and I have used her many many times.

She has been coloured in with Spectrum Noir and I have added Glamour Dust and Glossy Accents to her glasses.

This ribbon is a lovely red Grosgrain and I have Braided it along the edge of the card.

The Grosgrain is eay to braid as it has some substance to it and the effect is lovely.

If you like the look of this Braiding and you're not sure how to do it then please look at the video
Braided Ribbon Tutorial

The satin lips are from my "Stash" and the sentiment is a stamp.

I hope you will check out The Ribbon Room for some beautiful patterns, colours and textures.

Banner Basics 3

This  card is  created  using a  digital  image  from  the magic  pen of   KennyK Downloads    and is  this one is "Goldfish Boy"

He has been coloured with Spectrum Noir and the background papers are from the CD "The Next Big Thing" from Just Inklined

The boys name has been added to Banner Basics 3  which is one of the amazingly inexpensive dies available from
Save on Hobbies which sells "Close Out" dies

There is a choice of  different Tassels in this set and you just need to cut out the ones you want to use on your project.

I have added  twine around the  panel and a used  a  small gold  coloured  star charm in the  top right corner.

The name and the age are small  self  adhesive  bubble stickers to just finish the card off.  Job done ...

The video  Spectrum Noir Jeans will help you if you are new to colouring in the jeans ... and they don't have to be blue either.

I'm being lazy ...

Since we got back from Canada we have been very lazy. Griff says it is jet lag and that he feels his will last about three months....  No chance !!

So today I have been busy preparing everything I need for the new videos I want to do and tomorrow it is back to work with a vengence.  So my "Film Crew" will have to get his hat on again and get up his ladder.

This is some of my  Spectrum Noir pens and some of the paper that I use to colour on.... which is a  160gsm Text and Graphic  card from   Staples
This will be the start of a set of videos showing how I use them.   I do not pretend to be an artist ... this is just the way I make these pens work for me.
I have had several emails asking about them and so I thought that a video or two would be the best way forward rather than answer the questions individually

So tomorrow I will introduce the pen system and explain some of the things about them to those that are new to alcohol marker pens.

These are some of the cards that have been made using this system and hopefully ....  fingers crossed ....  you will enjoy the videos and find them useful to you in your own colouring.

Click the photos for an enlarged view.

The images are from   Mo's Digital Pencil  ... Lili of the Valley   and   Just Inklined  ... and all make the most adorable cards.

The "Bling" as always is from Want2Scrap and has been added to the Elephant card.

Punched Lace

Adding lace to your cards can make them look very feminine, but it can also cost money that you may not want to spend.

So how about putting all those punches that you have in your "Stash" to good use.

They may be flowers, butterflies, stars, hearts, leaves or any others that you may have but they can all be used to create your own lace look very easily.

This is created from a couple of scalloped strips and then all the punched shapes added in between.
Some have been sparkled up with Glamour Dust and the odd pearl added to the centre of the flowers.

The image is Maude and I introduced you to her a few weeks ago as one of the characters from the "Wrinklies" from Just Inklined

I think she is just wonderful and such a delight to colour in with Prmarkers.

Spectrum Noir Pen System ...

I have been colouring in my own digital downloads, or creating paintings,  for quite some time now and I have tried lots of different colouring mediums.

I love to watercolour with Distress Inks as it gives such a lovely finish to my projects.

There are many tutorials on the subject of using distress inks  (including mine)   for some really good tips on how to get the look you want.

Over the years I have used Pastels, Oils, Pencils and Acrylics  ... but then along came Alcohol Pens and the whole world changed.

They opened up a whole new area for the colourist and they give such professional results even if you are not an artist.... and I don't for one minute claim to be an artist.

Some of the brands I have tried have been Copics, Sakura, Flexmarkers, Promarkers and Aquamarkers.

But the ones I am trying at present are the new Spectrum Noir pens  from   Crafters Companion

This is such a pleasant way to colour in, and the colours blend in beautifully ... but don't let the kids have them ...Oh No!!

The image is another of the "Wrinklies" from  Just Inklined  and this delighful character is Albert.

He has been coloured with the new pens and I am very happy with the result.

I will certainly be practising more with this system and perfecting my skills with the blending so that I can get the best results possible with these pens ... and hopefully the recipients of my cards will like what they get.

And a quick P.S.  and that is the  New Video  that I made on Monday is now on the website and I hope you will enjoy it.

More from Just Inklined...

These cards are more from  Just Inklined.  I got my images when they were offered for free as I always love a good freebie ... Oh Yes!!   The gorgeous Maude was also from them.

You can buy them as indivdual images from their website,  but now they have added them all to CD's.

There is the  "Big One" and  "The Next Big Thing"  and both offer you really good value for your money ... and if you don't feel confident enough colouring in then the digi  stamps come ready coloured too.

I have had both of these for a while now and had the chance to look around them, and there is something for every age group and gender on them.  You will be able to make a card for any occasion.

This lovely scene above is the "Terraced Houses",  it has been coloured in with Promarkers... and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts   ... and of course the Spellbinders to create the shape to mount the image onto.

This one is the "Post Office" and is a very pretty scene. I have added some text paper for the backgound.

This one above is "Kiss the Cook" and would be ideal to send for a summer birthday ... especially to the man that does all the cooking at family get togethers ... like Griff!!

The background to this card is the Faux Leather Technique and the link will take you to the video tutorial for how to get the look. All you need is some masking tape and your Distress Ink.

I just love this cute character with his carrot, and I have made this up into female cards, with great success as well as this one on a more male theme.

I don't think you would be disapointed with either of the CD's  and you are sure to be kept busy for quite some time .... have fun!

Happy Valentines' Day

I hope you have all had a good day so far and got lots of Valentines from the one you love.

Griff loved his card but the first thing he said was ...." Some woman has left me a card,  I think she must know my wife though coz she's left me one of hers"

I got my card at breakfast,  along with some flowers and an invitation to dine out this evening..... of course I said Yes ... and so the diet will have to start tomorrow ..... again!

But it has pride of place ... alongside the one he bought for me on top of the TV.

Now I hope you like this very beautiful lady .....  her name is Maude Doodlebun , and she is from  Just Inklined

You will find many fabulous images there for you to download and colour in.... my favourite section is the "Wrinklies" they are just a wonderful set of fun characters ... for people of a certain age!

Maude has been coloured with Promarkers and I have used Glossy Accents on her glasses. Once it is dry it shines and looks like the lenses.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts  and they are a selection of Cherry Blossom,  10mm and 25mm white roses,  and some blue and white flowers that I don't know the name of.

The leaves are punched from the Ash Branch punch from   Leonie Em   You will find them in the product section under Extra large punches.

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and there are several different ones all on one sheet.  This one says ... Believe that you are wonderful..."   and I think that Maude is just that!!
