Water Colour Wednesday - Feeling Sheepish

Hi Everybody,

Todays cute image is from Clearly Besotted and this is the Feeling Sheepish stamp set.

For this card I have stamped them direct to water coloured card and used Gansai Tambi water colours to paint them.

There is a matching die set that will cut the sheep and the grass out for you but you will need to purchase them separately

I kept the layout simple but it was fun to do and I quite liked the card once it was finished.  I like to try different things from time to time as this keeps the card making block away.

Water Color Wednesday - Wild Thing ...

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is using stamps from Clearly Besotted and this one  is called Wild Thing  has matching dies to it and hey are sold separately.

It has been colored with Gansai Tambi Water Colors flat onto the card front.

The tiger has been cut out with the dies and raised to sit in front of the other two animals and the back ground is hand drawn.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set

Sun and clouds are created with the Day Dream die set from Spellbinders

Cute little card that would be ideal for children ... and maybe a few adults as well

Got any hair gel ??

Hi Everybody,

Over on my YouTube Channel today is a fun card using some hair gel to create an underwater scene and it is sure to delight children.

This is the Hair Gel Pocket Card  and I have used the cheapest tube of hair gel that I could find.

I specifically bought the one with bubbles in it as this will help with the effect.

Once you have watched the video you will understand what I mean when I tell you that the gel settles towards the bottom of the pocket once the card is stood up so be sure not to overfill it.

And seal it carefully so that the gel doesn't escape when you have finished.

The stamp and die set  that I have used is Make A Splash  from Clearly Besotted ... and they are a UK company with wonderful items for you to buy

The card is from AnnaMarie Design and I have used Spellbinders 5x7 Matting Basics  to create the card and frame.   Make sure that the pocket you use will fit inside the frame work  you create.

Wednesday Water Colour - Best Birthday

Hi Everybody,

These cute little images are  from a stamp set called  Best Birthday and I bought mine from  Clearly Besotted  and I really enjoyed making this card.

There is a matching die set  that can be bought separately from the same company

You will find the link to them permanently listed on the Pretty Things...  page in the side bar to the right.

They have a wonderful selection of stamps and dies and they are a UK company.

I have bought many sets from them and they have lovely sentiments too

So back to the card.... I stamped and masked off the images in the arrangement I wanted

I sat and water coloured them with the Gansai Tambi paints.

Then once it was dry I added in Glossy Accents to create the shine.

I added it to the card front with craft foam underneath as this helps to flatten the water colored card and then I rounded the corners of panel and card base.  The flowery strip down the left is Washi Tape just to finish the look.

Labour of Love ...

Hi Everybody,

All these Baby Shower cards have been made for my Grand-Daughter Robyn  who is expecting her first baby in May

I am going to be a Great Gran again and we know that this new baby is a boy.  Four year old Isabella is my first Great Grand-Daughter so one of each ... so far !!

I made forty of them for her to invite her friends to her baby shower and I will add them all to envelopes and box them as my gift to her.

I have used the Wild Thing  stamp set from Clearly Besotted and I also have the matching die that I used to cut them all out.

I have used the same white card from Papermill Direct for my top fold base card and the Blue spotty card from AnnaMarie Design

The  New Baby stamp is also from Clearly Besotted and there is a matching die to buy separately

All the images have been stamped and water coloured and then die cut to fit the oval shapes

There is variation in the lace added around the layers and I have dotted the pearls  from Want2Scrap differently on the cards too.

I only used three of the animals from the set and to each of the giraffes I have added googly eyes.  The lion and tigers have Glossy Accent noses.

I have to say I am really happy with the way these cards turned out and it was a labour of love indeed as it took me two full days to get them done

And I am pleased that Robyn was delighted with them as well ... Job done!

Water Colour Wednesday - Make a Splash!

Hi Everybody,

This fun card uses elements that are my two favorite things to play with ... die cutting and water colouring,

Because I have been doing quite a lot of water colouring lately I thought I would show you a card each Wednesday

I have also been buying lots of stamps and matching die sets that produce the sweetest of cards very easily

The featured set here is from Clearly Besotted and it is called Make A Splash!.

There are four dolphins for you to colour and I have used the Gansai Tambi water colours for mine and cut them out with the dies

I used the colour smooshing technique  with Distress Inks onto some parchment and card,  to get the sea effect

I layered the panels up with foam pads to give the height.

This side view shows you how the layers are raised up from the card and I cut the wave effect with my border dies ... yet another way to use a border !!

I think this is a lovely card to give to a child and if you added in a birthday sentiment it would be spot on.

Tuesday Tutorial A2 Basics

Hi Everybody,

For todays tutorial I have used nothing but the basic dies that you may already have in your crafting "Stash".   These are some of the dies that we buy and then push to one side for the fancier ones.

But they are so useful in that they can give you a beautiful base card with the embossed edges, and also lovely ovals, or other shapes,  to layer onto your base.
Spellbinders Supplies:
Other Supplies:

With the largest die from the rectangles in Matting Basics A cut two in white card and  Create a Hinged Card
With the largest die from the B set cut a patterned layer and then in between these two hand cut another layer in plain pink that leaves a small border around the patterned layer
From the stamp set choose the character that you wish to use and stamp and heat emboss it onto the card. Colour any way you prefer.
Choose the plain die that surrounds your character from the Classic Ovals and then from the plain pink card cut another layer from the Classic Scalloped dies to leave a small border around the coloured image.
Cut a larger Scalloped layer from the pink card and use another patterned card that matches the colours scheme with the plain oval.

The size you use will depend on which character you use and which words. And the positioning of them.  The blue card at the bottom of the page is set out differently to the pink one at the top
Layer them together with foam tape in between to give dimension to your card.
Here are the layers that I have and I can now add them together.
I have offset the character on my card and wrapped all the layers with lace and ribbon before adding them to the base.
I have added tiny pearls into the corners as a finishing touch.
This card has used the same die sets, card, ribbon, lace and pearls. I have chosen another stamp from the same set and created this card in blue.
I have used a white gel pen to add Polka Dots to each character

Adding Foil

Hi Everybody,

A few weeks ago I treated myself to the  Heidi Swapp - Minc Machine  which  through a heat process adds foil to cards for a really lovely look

As soon as I can I will add some videos to the blog to show some of the things I have done with my new toy but this week it is decorating and carpet shampooing .... busy busy busy !!

This card has the foil added to the background panel and is a really shiny hot pink shade.

Over the top I have layered  Medallions Three and added it with foam tape to give height.

The white Hammered card is from the Papermill Direct. and creates a good base for most of my designs.

The flowers are from  Wild Orchid Crafts  and they have been sparkled up with Glitter Magic

The little sentiment is from  Clearly Besotted Stamps  and I have just bought a whole load of new stamps and matching dies from them which I will also show you over the coming weeks. They are gorgeous too.

So Santa came early to my house and I am really pleased with my gift
.... from me  .. to me!!
