Water Colour Wednesday - Botanical Flutters

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is created with Distress Inks and water and the result is quite a pretty card.

I created a stamp with craft foam from the Hummingbird die that is in the  Botanical Flutters   from Spellbinders

I stamped it several times over the card with Versamark and used white embossing powder on them

Then with a blending tool I used Twisted Citron and Stormy Sky over the top and blended it well. The white birds show through once this is done.

Spritz with clean water and blot off again for a more mottled look

The Hummingbird I have cut twice in white card and then a top layer in silver and glued them all together for dimension

The base card is white and on top of that I have added in a sun-ray panel and I will cover that in another video

So lyricist speaking not water colours but done with water based inks so I am cheating a little here ... but still a good card to send to some one on their birthday.

Water Colour Wednesday-Counting Sheep !

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is a mixture of Distress ink used in two different ways.

I have used smooth stamping card and blended the ink on to the centre of it with an ink blender.

I started for lightly in the middle with Tumbled Glass and then worked my way out going lighter and lighter as I went towards the edges.

The stamp set is from Clearly Besotted but until the New Year they are taking a break and so the stamp set is not available at present.

I used Mowed Lawn  as a watercolour to create the grass along the bottom and some Hickory Smoke to add shading to the sheep

If you are going to use your Distress inks as water colours then dab the ink from the pad onto a glass mat or tile and then add the water with your brush.

Don't add the wet brush direct to the ink pad or you will dilute the ink in the pad and spoil it

I used the matching die to cut the sheep out and added them to my card with foam pads underneath for dimension.

Cute eh ??

Water Colour Wednesday - Botanical Flutters

Hi Everybody,

This card is created with a beautiful die from Spellbinders called  Botanical Flutters

I have simply cut the die twice in white card and layered them together for extra thickness.

I then water coloured the different parts to it with Gansai Tambi making the butterflies in pastel shades to stand out.

They have been lightly brushed over with Wink Of Stella to give them a sparkly look.

I mounted the panel onto some lilac card and then added it to a larger base with an embossed panel behind.

The pretty pink sequins just tie everything together. The sentiment has been stamped and embossed and added to the same lilac card

The finished card has a soft and delicate feel to it and I am happy with the way it looks.

Water Colour Wednesday - Robins !!

Hi Everybody,

These three cards are really easy to do and I have used Distress Inks to colour them all.

I have simply sponged the background on to the card making the circle wider as I worked my way out from the centre.

Spritz it with water to get the mottled look and then with a darker shade of ink stamp the snowflakes

I added in the sentiment in black ink and embossed it with clear powder then with a black pen I added in two lines above it.

The robins have been stamped in Tea Dye and Festive Berries and cut out with the matching die and both were from Clearly Besotted.

The third card is done in the same way for the background but I have added in the Musical Border from Craft Stash to the top.

I cut it three times and I glued them together.

I have sprinkled them with glitter and added them at an angle on my card.

Really easy to do especially if you make lots of cards for charity

Water Colour Wednesday - Chubby Chums

Hi Everybody,

How cute is this card? I love it and had so much fun creating it.  I have used a stamp from Paper Smooches that is called Chubby Chums and with masking paper I have stacked them all together on water colour card.

There is a set of dies that match this stamp set and if these products are sold out when you get there then add your name to the list to be notified when they are back in stock

I  have used Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers and they are so easy to work with. The background is done with Distress Inks and I have used a white Sharpie pen to do the snowflakes over the it.

The Googly eyes just add to the expressions on their faces as they sing their Christmas carol to you.

Under the characters I have added some snow with Snowtex. It dries really hard and looks just like .. Snow !!

Water Colour Wednesday - 1 image 2 ways

Hi Everybody,

For todays offering I am using not water colours but Alcohol Marker pens.  And I thought I would share with you the video that was done with Spectrum Noir quite some time ago.
It was added to The Art Studio before they went off line and it uses the older pen sets but it seems such a shame to waste this as I know that many of you have the older style pens and use them regularly

The image is from Just Inklined and is on the CD The Next Big Thing
I know that many of you have this CD even though this is now difficult to get hold of.
But there will be other images that you have that may need to be coloured with thiese shades and so I hope you will put this to good use

Water Colour Wednesday - Best Birthday

Hi Everybody,

Todays clean and simple card is using  the  Best Birthday  matching stamp and die set from Clearly Besotted

You don't need to buy the dies to create this card because you can simply fussy cut around the image ... but I have to buy both if they are available ... don't ask me why !!

So to make this card I stamped the two outside characters directly onto my base card and stamped the central one onto another piece

I water coloured them all in and then die cut the piglet out and added it on foam pads to the centre position on my card

The sentiment and balloon strings are from the same stamp set and the only extras on the card are some silver sequins that I have dotted around

They just don't look silver in the photograph .
I inked around the edges of the card and matted it onto some grey before layering it onto the white base

Water Colour Wednesday - Snow Buddies

Hi Everybody,

The stamp I have used for todays card is from Woodware and called Snow Buddies.

It is one that I bought at the craft show last weekend and it is about 3x7" in size so makes a really good card front.

I have added both onto a long card base that will fit neatly into a DL envelope.

The one on the left has been coloured with pencils and the one on the right is water coloured with Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers

I much prefer the vibrancy of the right hand card and I really enjoyed the water colouring too.  I have added extra sparkle to both cards with glitter on the bobble hats

This cute stamp set really caught my eye  as the characters are already stacked for you and so very easy to produce aaaannnddd  ... it was only £5.50 .. a real bargain !!

Which is your favorite from the two??

Water Colour Wednesday - Floral Card

Hi Everybody,

I have been plaing again with Ink Smooshing and this is the result for todays card.

It is a mixture of  Dusty Concord, twisted Citron and Broken China Distress Inks and the effect is quite vibrant once it is dry.

I flicked some ink splatters onto the card with some Silk Lustre from Spellbinders Celebrations Collection

I have used the floral stamp set from Sheen Douglass and it was available on Crafters Companion website

But I cannot find it any more to link too so I am afraid you would have to do your own search if you wanted to find it.

I  have stamped the sentiment onto some parchment and embossed it with white powder and then wrapped it around the water coloured panel

I add some silver glitter tape along the left side and rounded one of the bottom corners  before attaching it to my card base.

A few enamel dots added to the centre of the flowers completes the card for today.

Water Colour Wednesday - Pink Flowers

Hi Everybody,

For this card I used the Whimsical Flowers stamp set and the Pink collection of Crisp Inks from Altenew.

The stamp has a matching die to cut out the flowers and is a useful addition to your "stash"

I bought all of them and also the Hello die and stamp set from Sevenhills Crafts

It was really easy to do and I simply repeated the flower over the card and then coloured it by adding some ink to my glass mat and mixing it with water

Just a little strip of glitter tape down the side and a few sequins dotted here and there and the card was done

Quick easy and lots of fun to make and will go into my stack of ready made cards for the times when I am asked suddenly "Do you have a card for ---- "

I am sure that you know what I mean and you get asked the same question out of the blue.

It is always handy to keep some flat cards on hand that can be for lots of occasions.... Just in case !!

Water Colour Wednesday - Friend Like You

Hi Everybody,

I love this image and I could not resist giving her a pretty floral dress to wear.  And don't you just love that the handbag matches her slippers.??

Adding clothes or changing the look of those already drawn onto the characters is so much fun and if you haven't tried it you are missing out.

I added Glossy Accents to her glasses to make them shine like lenses

It doesn't matter if you can draw or not as nothing is too fancy to achieve.

Just grab that pen and doodle away and you will be pleased and surprised at what you can come up with.

Have a look at last weeks image also as he too has been altered for a fun look ... Man and His Dog !!

This is a digital image from the CD The Next Big Thing from Just Inklined and as all companies do they have moved on and it is no longer available.

I wouldn't part with my copy for anything as there is some really fantastic characters on the disc to play with.

You may be lucky and find one on EBay that someone wants to sell on but I think you will need to search for it

Water Colour Wednesday - Man and his dog !!

Hi Everybody,

After the comments on the video Birthday Bears when I added clothes to the stamped images I thought it would be fun to change this one as well.

So I painted the man to enhance his rugged looks and then added a flowery shirt to him along with his jeans.

I thought that the whole look was totally incongruous for a  man who looks like this
Would he really wear such a shirt and take his rather large bloodhound for a walk with a pink lead ???

I loved the look once it was done and it was fun to create and I know just the person to send this too.

He will laugh his socks off when he sees this

I used water colours to get the look and it didn't really take me that long to do it

Water Colour Wednesday - Back to School

Hi Everybody,

Todays image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and there is also a little girl and they are called Back To School

I have used the curly haired version but you can get the same images with straight hair so it will fill a number of styles.

Colour these in the childs uniform colours and add their name to make it really special

I will be making one for my Great Grand-daughter Isabella who will be starting school this September

I have used Distress Inks to colour this and then fussy cut it from the card.

The shadow effect is created onto the background piece with  the bricks/

It is just a flat stencil also done with Distress Inks

The little banner is from a Spellbinders called Amused 1

Water Colour Wednesday - Brusho Crystals

Hi Everybody,

For todays card I got out the Burshos again to make a really simple purple background for my design

Once the card was dry I just cut out the circle ... and kept it for another project

Behind the aperture I added in some embossed parchment and then placed foam tape around the sides of the card

I also put some around the aperture to support it then added it to a white top folded card base.

The diamante flourish is from  Want2Scrap  and I cut in two and added it so that it looks as if it runs through the sentiment.

The finished card is 5x7 and it really is a simple card ... with no flowers anywhere to be seen.

Water Colour Wednesday - Delivering Parcels !!

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is created with a Christmas stamp but I didn't want it to look overly wintry

So I decided to paint it with brighter colours

I used Gansai Tambi water colours and I added in some lace from Wild Orchid Crafts  and a die cut shape just sitting in my bit box.

Waste not, want not ... as the saying goes so I used up what was there.

I also added in the stripes to the scarf by hand with a black fine liner pen. It just adds a little interest to the stamp.

Information

Over the last few weeks I have added several cards to YouTube and said that they are A2 size and from a comment that has been left on my channel somebody has disagreed with me.

Now a few years ago I added a video about our UK A2 size and the US A2 size and the difference is enormous and I thought it was worth explaining just how much

More About Card Sizes  was added for that purpose and so if you haven't seen the video and are a little confused about the sizes then here is the link again with the explanation.

Water Colour Wednesday-Tilda & Edmund

Hi Everybody,

Today I have used another old stamp that I have had for quite some time.

I have coloured Tilda and Edmund with Gansai Tambi colours and made it into an A2 sized card. I used a white gel pen to add white spots to Tildas coat.

The background piece is from Tonic-Gold and is the Sunflower Array

I have layered it over some red spotty card from AnnaMarie Designs

The red pearls are from Want2Scrap

The   Hello  sentiment is a die cut that I have cut three times in black card and glued the layers together

They have been covered with Glossy Accents to give them the shiny look  and added to the front.

Pretty little card for no special occasion at all ... Just to say Hello!!

Water Colour Wednesday - Good Times

Hi Everybody,

A really simple card today using  Spectrum Noir AquaTints - Pretty Pastels

I have just done a soft wash of the pale blue in the background for the sky

I coloured the bike and butterflies with pink and that basically is all I did with Aqua Tints

I use some well watered down black for the ground and added in my sequins.

The stamp is from Clearly Besotted and is called Good Times 2

Then I stamped and embossed the sentiment to complete the card.  I used craft foam behind the panel to add it to my card base which is an A2 top folded one.

Water Colour Wednesday - Marching Mice !!

Hi Everybody,

Todays card is using the Strike Up The Band stamp set Gansai Tambi Water Colours.  This little stamp set is so versatile and I featured it another Water Colour Wednesday a few weeks ago.

This time I have used the mice with a different sentiment and some of them are marching the wrong way to the main band.

You can have so much fun with this and arrange your band however you wish.  I think there could be another video here !!

Water Colour Wednesday - Flowers

Hi Everybody,

Everything about this card is hand done ... no stamps, no stencils, no tracing ... all right out of my head !!

I used Water colour paints and lots of water to get the look for the flowers and then once it was done something was missing.

So in I went again and painted in the fence behind the flowers and then I was happier with it.

It is a lot easier to do than you might think so you don't need to be able to draw or even paint.

All you need is the courage to put the paint on the paper in the first place, and if you don't like it nothing is lost.

It's only paint and paper and some water ...  but you will gain a whole lot if you just try it in the first place, especially confidence if you like what you have produced

It's being scared and lacking that confidence that stops us doing lots of things but we need to take the plunge and try.

Water Colour Wednesday - Strike up the Band !

Hi Everybody,

These cute mice are from My Favorite Things and it is called Strike Up The Band

It has a separate die set that you can purchase and there are six mice altogether with different instruments.

Both are available from Sevenhills Crafts

I have masked off areas and added the mice in the position I wanted them and then water coloured them with Gansai Tambi.

I think this card would be suitable for any age group .. male or female .. and could be for other occasions too either using other sentiments in the set or another set that you may have

Exciting news for me .... I became a Great Grandmother for the second time at 4.49 this morning when my Granddaughter Robyn gave birth to 8 lbs 11 ozs boy to be named Carter. We will get to meet him later and both are well. There's a good reason to strike up the band !!
